Feeding after dental

So the good news is his teeth look fine, she couldn’t feel any discomfort on his jaw, tummy, kidneys, bladder, so that means that we don’t know what it is. He would likely need a CT scan to see if it’s a tooth root issue but that would cost £1k and requires another GA which as this point in time not prepared to put him though. We are going to try tramadol and we need to wean him of the CC and see if he can maintain the weight on his own, he may never regain the weight as his is a bit older now.

It took us 4 hours to get home as the M1 was closed part the way, I’m drained

I'm sorry you are having such a tough time at the moment. Sending Pepper lots of healing vibes, I hope he improves soon.

Sorry there don’t seem to have been any clearer answers. However, fingers crossed what’s been discussed will work.

Come on Pepper, be a good boy and keep munching.

It’s a shame they didn’t find out what the problem is. Hopefully with the extra meds he will improve and soon be on the mend 🤞🏻

Keep munching Pepper 😍

Oh poor you, what a day! Hopefully Pepper will get chomping once he is off the cc and maintain his weight 🤞

I’m sorry that you have left with no clear answer but I’m glad some things have been ruled out. I wouldn’t put him through a CT scan either.

Hopefully the tramodol will work and he’ll start munching more on his own once he’s weaned off the CC x

I hope so! He is still very happy and popcorning… two vets have called him an older pig recently but pepper disagrees!

He does appear to be eating lots of hay, I’m going to go back to his old SS grain free nuggets to see if they can tempt him!

Little break through today,I ordered some SS grain free nuggets last night, the boys used to have these ones before we swapped to piggie parcels, after his dental I tried him on burgees with mint as he loves mint and he wasn’t tempted, but today he has gone to eat the SS grain free! I’m so happy!

Just had the email from peppers insurance we had claimed £970 and we are getting £780 back! Very pleased they only cover 50% of dental costs and there was fibre plex on there that they don’t cover but that means the insurance has paid for its self for the next few years!

That’s great. Can I ask who your insurance company is and roughly how much your monthly payment is? I am wondering about insurance but don’t know anyone who has it

It’s from exotic direct £29 for premium cover for both boys, which is £2K a year per pig, excess was £65. I know a few people who have it and all have said they have had a good experience with it paying out.

Many thanks. I will look into it, with 4 piggies you can’t half run up some vets bills!

We have been reducing peppers syringe feeding and Emaprid this week, the past 2 days he has just had a bed time 10ml of CC, we are giving him extra nuggets not an excessive amount but more than a table spoon, today he weighed 1052g! I’m so pleased, I’m not expecting him to get above that after the conversation with Kim but as long as he can hold his weight above 1020g on his own I will be happy! IMG_1296.webp

Lovely to see his cute face and funky furdo

He’s doing so well, I wouldn’t worry too much about him putting on extra weight either, as long as he maintains this weight then that’s fine, you never know he might surprise you 😊
