Eddie doesn't quite seem himself

She was very happy with how he is and how much weight he's gained too :) There's no discomfort in his mouth and he is a healthy boy again! I just have to keep an eye out for changes in behaviour and eating with would suggest the spur is coming back which I was doing anyway. Unless I'm worried it's coming back Eddie won't be going back for a check up for another 2 months. I feel I can relax a bit more now 😂

There's been carnage in the carrier though and they've only been in it for an hour 😂😂

I can't be angry at them for making such a mess though, their snuggling up is just too sweet! 🤣😍

Ohhh they've had a busy day! Really glad it's all good news for Eddie 🙂

I had another check of Eddie's feet this morning and they're still red :( I feel I've waited long enough to see if they'd get better and they haven't. I was holding off until he'd been to the vets but they didn't mention his feet, though he was really there about his teeth so it makes sense she didn't mention it. I was so relieved he was officially ok again I didn't think to mention it again when the vet came back out with Eddie until it was too late

What would be ok to put on his feet myself? Is Gorgeous Guineas best? Or washing his feet in salt water? I think @Betsy and @Bradshaw Piggies had some suggestions last time I talked out his feet?

They don't seem to bother him or cause him any discomfort at all. It's bothering me though!

Glad he's doing well and gaining weight but those feet do look sore... if it was one of mine I'd go back to the vet and ask them to specifically check those feet, they do look like they are almost blisters there and if the skin breaks he could get infection and full blown bumblefoot... the vet may not have much to add but its always best to ask!
Our vet suggested CLX paw wipes for Jezzy's feet, those are antiseptic paw wipes for dogs and cats- can get them prescribed but can also buy from Amazon. That makes sure the feet are properly clean and germ free before you put cream like gorgeous guineas on afterwards. But I'd ask the vet too just to check!

Oh no. Sorry to hear he’s having problems with his feet.

yes I agree with the above. Have a vet check them.
I think you’ve already read my advice on @Betsy ‘s thread regarding the foot soaks and treatments?

That does look sore. Hope you get him sorted.

I would take him back to the vets too just as his poorly paws look so sore.

Patsy is continuing with the Epsom Salt foot spas twice a day (with the added attraction of Metacam and Recovery food to keep her still for 5 minutes) and then a dry, barrier cream (checked with vet said OK to use) and then onto a Snuggglesafe to properly dry her off that's if she stays which she usually does as she loves a Snugglesafe.

Poor little man, I’d definitely ask the vet what they recommend before putting anything on or using salts etc like @PigglePuggle says. Hope his little feeties are feeling better soon x

Thanks, me too. Of course I'm worrying again now :(
Does your vet have PetsApp? I contact my vet now via PetsApp. The pictures they receive are (apparently) better quality than on an email. You can also have a chat directly with your vet. It's like WhatsApp but for Vets.

Try not to worry, Sheepy’s were much worse and his improved, as long as he’s on comfy bedding and kept clean and dry like I’m sure you do he’ll be ok until you can speak/get to vets :) x

@Betsy I’d never even heard of that before seeing your posts recently! Sounds very helpful!

Don't worry, I'm sure with a little treatment they will soon be better, they don't look too bad. The main thing is to keep them dry. Caspy gets sore feet like this, he drinks a lot so his fleece gets wet. I was changing his pee pads twice a day in his beds but have gone over to using vet bed now. When I saw the vet she didn't think fleece is a good bedding for guinea pigs and shavings are better. I told her there was no way I could use shavings with 4 cages, too much dust and too much waste to get rid of. Bathing Caspy's feet and using the prescribed barrier cream was not working for him this time so I have gone over to all vet bed in his cage, after 2 days his feet are looking a lot better already.

I think it's a relatively new thing. I've only been using it for around 4 months. My vets asked my to download it onto my phone and register with them. There didn't seem to be that many vets practice's on there when I downloaded it. It's also free to use for me probably not the vets though. I was told I would have a phone consultation which I'd have to pay for instead Rachel (vet) contacted me via PetsApp and I didn't have to pay!

Thanks @alpacasqueak that's reassuring :)

@piggieminder I do see Eddie drinking every day so that would explain why his feet are sore and Elvis's are fine. They have fleece in their cage and VetBed on top of towels when they're out on the floor (which is a lot at the minute since I'm at home all the time). I have some offcuts of VetBed I could put under the houses in their cage could that help?

@Betsy that sounds good!

Sounds really helpful and handy, hopefully it’ll be pumped out around the country for us guys that need it! Great you saved a few pennies too with your nice vet :)

What do you have under the fleece in the cage? x
Sorry edit, yes vet bed under beds a great plan! Why mine is all offcuts and teeny bits for under mine!
