If you take a bar made of annealed 1018 steel and a bar of equal size and shape made of tempered 2024 aluminum and apply equivalent tensile loading to each, which will break first and why?

If the steel is stainless steel then it should have a higher tensile strength than aluminum. Following that logic, the tempered 2024 aluminum will break first.
