we did'nt live on top of a hill in 87 and was quite sheltered then but now OMG we'll take off, Hubby just made me check out our insurance he is that worried, the hovercraft and cats have stopped yet again and now the ferrys are on limited use and are at risk of being stopped until further notice, we lost Shanklin pier in 87 and had loads of cliff falls, so am pretty scared gulp! just going to check out my sheds wish they were made of concrete

I've just got back from dropping son off at school in a hale storm, and I mean storm :o It's windy, cold and haley here, horrid weather ::)

OK here at the mo, thankfully, although its flippin cold. I think we are due for the wind later. I just keep thinking of those piggies in the mud :'( :'(

Hi Michelle i was telling my OH about the probs you have where you live & he said you should get some kind of webbing & literally strap the sheds to the ground. Webbing over the top & then stake it in to the ground. For a standard shed he said that really you should have 2 straps going over in like a cross. But if thats not possible 2 straps going over the same way. Even rope would do it, but yiou would need to put something like ply or a couple layers of lino under the friction points. He does know his stuff because he owns a big stage which you have to take things like wind into consideration when you're doing a gig. Anyone see Fat Boy Slim on Brighton beach - thats his stage... 8) big boys Mecchano I call it.

oh great, that means our shed will take off then, youve seen what its like Hillary :(
we couldve done with a decent day just to re felt the roof but it never gives us a chance

Sh%t will be thinking of you guys, that's terrible.

What the hell has happened to our weather it's like crazy!!!

Please take care, keep us posted on how you all are, i'll be checking my time tomorrow morning on the progress.

:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

its already getting really rough

*sighs* :(

its bright enough to put some waterproofing on the shed roof ( like a paint on stuff) we saw some in wilko's today and I wish we had picked it up now,but mumsy has the flu so it isnt gonna happen

I can't remember the 87 storm as I was only a year old, but it does sound worrying.

it frightened the living daylights out of me my loft door blew out and my hugh front window bowed we had trees down and houses damaged Kew gardens was flattened and loads of forests were also flattened,

Hils would he know where i can get this type of webbing, thanks for that info hubby will be hunting it out tomorrow if we are still here ,

According to the itv website my area will be worst here :-\

I know from what my Nan told me about the 87 storms was that we didn't have any power for a week if I remember what I have been told correctly.

I'm very fed up with the weather. Howling here not seen it this windy in ages. What a night for my Crunchie to be on her own. I'm even thinking of spending £6 on getting a taxi to work as i cant face walking to the bus, that will be poss cancelled anyway as it has to get round the hills here first!

Going to try to cancel visits id got set up today as it means walking!

Snow to follow they are hinting at.

Dont know why ive washed my hair its going to get blown everywhere!

Wow I thought it was bad here recently (Tyne & Wear) but you guys I feel for.
Today its forecast for really bad weather. Its awful outside now.
Its at times like this I am glad I have indoor piggies!
We do have a shed outside which has been there rather a long time so I hope that doesnt disapeer!

I'm fricking scared stiff, the roof tiles are rattling, will most probably blow off any minute, conservatory roof is bowing and bending the poor dog got blown sideways when he went for a pee,
local radio says if no reason to go out DONT, Micks got a driving test but thinks they will cancel it,
trees are down everywhere, accidents happeing, all ferrys except one has been cancelled but that one is only doing one more crossing, as if anyone would want to be on it anyway, its stopping on the end of Ryde pier why would anyone want to be on the end of a pier in 99mph winds, :o
my sheds are still standing but I am just about going out to feed my babies gulp, must be brave for my furballs though, they are saying get ready for power cuts most of our power lines are above ground, and its still to get worse around midday, Josh has gone to school but I'm thinking wish he was at home now, Daughter is still off her asthma is not getting much better but am not taking her out in this weather, will call Drs out if she gets any worse, but at moment shes not too bad indoors , the sirens are going off everywhere, well must be brave and see my babys, wish me luck

bloody hell that sounds bad,let us know how you go on?

a breeding block thing that Hils brought over last night got blown over about 7am and I thought something had exploded ,it landed next to the furballs shed,I can imagine they prob cra**ed themselves
ill go check on them in a few mins

Take care Michelle, it's absolutely awful here too, the rivers up, and it's not high tide until mid morning, floods everywhere and the wind is scary..... our power cables are all above ground due to roman remains in the village we can't bury them so am expecting power cuts too.

sorry only just seen this. Army surplus is always a good one - but not sure if you will have them on the island. An old ratchet strap would do. But it sounds urgent so I would just use rope & get a spike into the ground. Make sure you use 2 ropes per shed because if you just have 1 & the wind gets under the roof, it will fold the roof back over the rope like a greeting card. With 2 anchor points there won't be as much pressure in just the one point....hope that makes sense!
Hows it going at the moment?

I am hating it, the sirens frighten me as i constantly worry about the school roof, that was a caused by seeing one fly off in 87,
my bunglaow is directly on top of a hill and we are getting the full impact, hubbys already pushed a roof tile back on the edge, but the surprise baby is brilliant news ;) ;)

Oh, that's rotten.

Weather really crap in Bath. Wind and pissing pissing rain. Was going to go to the shops at lunch break, but won't now! the guins will have to make do with the greenery we've got!

I have just heard the fatality report on Kerrang news and it said a branch - looking at the picture its the whole tree. What a terrible shame. Windy here at the mo, trees being blown all over the place. I heard hubby keep opening the bathroom window this morning checking the weather before he went out. I will glad when he is home safe as he drives from Swadlincote to Wednesbury every day.

yup my dads down in leics i think today and hes gotta drive in his van which is a death trap anyway

My mother emailed me and said she ws at home because of the wind. It must be really bad in Cornwall, it always is ;D
