i got mine around £6 for a 8x4ft, 2mm thick sheet from Travis Perkins :) It was a bit thin but i jjust doubled it up for the corners to keep it strong.
unfortunately brussels has decided that it tastes yummy so we'll see how long that lasts...:L

If anyone is looking for correx in Glasgow there's Stockline Plastics on Grovepark Street. They do custom sizes as well, but I don't know how much they charge. Unfortunately I found out too late about them, I had already gotten lino flooring instead.

We brought correx in B and Q today. Well I actually think it was called Corrotherm but same thing I think.

They only had the transparent stuff in 2 different sizes, we brought 2 sheets at 700cm x 120cm at £7.28 each sheet. But they also had sheets that were 700cm x 240cm at about £14 I think.

Hope this helps. x
Were the 700cm x 120cm the massive sheets?

I'd read of someone getting a 4ft x 2ft sheet but when I went in today and they only had one size and it was huge. I couldn't have carried it never mind fitting it in the car. Was gutted as everything else is in place - I just need to Corrotherm.:(

Can anyone recommend a place to get it in the North East? Really wanted the clear plastic stuff.

Went back to B&Q and found it. Will post details in a bit.
Right as promised - the stuff you need to go for is called Corotherm Polycarbonate glazing sheet clear.

Size is 610 x 1200mm - it's 4mm thick which is about right.

Product code is: 5012032768808

Price was £8.98 per sheet - not cheap but it works and its clear which was what I wanted. If you give the product code to the help desk they will tell you what isle it is on.

To give you an idea of how much you'll use - I made a 2x5 C&C Cage and used 4 sheets taped together. This gave me a 10" side all round. It worked perfectly.

Snap I got some on Sunday but only paid £8 as it was bashed on the edge but I can just take that slither off, I asked for the discount tho and it was the only piece of that size there to be fair
I did google corotherm whilst in b and q to see if it was same as corollary, it looked the same
I got mine outside but just by the door where they keep the paving slabs and timber

Coroplast in Canada

Hello,

If anyone is looking for Coroplast, I found it for $24 a sheet at Rona. There's different colours, but the natural was the least expensive.

Correx corrugated plastic

Hi guys - does anyone know the best place to buy 4mm sheets of Correx at the moment. My Trixie 150 cage just got delivered on Wednesday and I need to alter the wire shelf and ramp before the 23rd Dec! Have emailed my local estate agents and a local sign maker but they haven't replied to me. Also just wondering if anyone knows the best way to cut the Correx and bend the edges and also how to attach a new ramp to a correx platform?

Thanks everyone x

If the sign makers are local to you then call and see them. I get my correx sheets by calling and they sell them to me for a cash price of £6.00 for an 8' x 6' The lads are very helpful and roll it for me to take away ;)

The local firms are very unlikely to reply to emails, for that sort of price, so do go and see them and ask for a sheet there and then :) I don't get a choice of colour - only white :))

As for the cutting, look through the pages - there's loads of info on this thread - I practised on some spare before going for the "real thing" ! HTH

Correx corrugated plastic

Hello - thanks for the advice - I will try and visit a local one, just a bit tricky this near Xmas and my little boy is only at nursery 3 hrs a day so it's hard to fit all the jobs in during this time! In some ways I would rather order it from the net to be delivered but I'm a bit worried I will order the wrong thing. Do you know if Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheeting (4mm) is the same stuff. I have found one website that does it cheaply (for what I would need - I'm not making a whole homemade cage from it - just altering the shelf in the Trixie 150 cage I've just bought)

http://www.polycarbdirect.co.uk/product_list_poly.php?id=51

Many thanks - I know you're busy, only got 2 more weeks to get the cage sorted aaaagghhhh. I will order extra though like you suggested so I can have a practice and I'll search through the threads as I do remember seeing something about assembling etc.

Thanks!

Hi Brownie & Muffin (love those names by the way!) & First Time Piggie Mum - have looked at both those links. I actually bought a sheet of Polycarbonate Perspex Glazing from B&Q last week and myself and my father-in-law made a shelf and sides to go on top of the wire shelf in my Trixie 150 cage. I will try and put pictures on once I work out how! (as recommended by another post here) - I needed to see what I was buying and only had a few days to make it in. It wasn't ideal though as that stuff doesn't bend into edges but just snaps off so we had to make a base the same size as the shelf and then make separate edges round the sides and drill holes into them to attach to the bars etc. It was a clear perspex though so that's nice but it wasn't cheap £25 for 5 x 2 foot I think!

I shouldn't have bought it really but we learn from our mistakes heh? Also as it was a perspex material (and not corrugated like Correx) - the heat from the jigsaw and drill made the plastic weld itself back together even though it had been sawn - very odd. Looks ok though and the square guttering I also bought from B&Q looks fab as a ramp up to the level! Bought a little footmat (98p) from maybe Homebase and stuck it onto the ramp with double sided sticky tape. Very pleased with the ramp and it cost about £8 for 2 m of the guttering so I have loads left.

Would really like to make another level now on the other side of the cage - esp as we're getting a trio of boars on Xmas Eve so I want to make sure they have plently of room to get away from each other - but I'm not sure I have time now to order Correx and make the shelf. Been looking at lids of plastic boxes or seed trays/cat litter trays etc but haven't found any yet that are right width for the cage (75cm).:)

Hello - think I must have bought different stuff from you - maybe I bought Perspex sheets instead? Although they did say Corotherm Polycarbonate Glazing Sheets? Anyway - we couldn't get it to score and bend (to make sides) - for love nor money. We could snap it but that was it! Jigsaw worked pretty well but we had to make separate edge and just use plastic cable ties to attach to bars of cage (it was only a ledge/shelf we needed anyway and not a whole cage floor - thank God!) xx How on earth did you manage to bend it?

Hi there
If anybody is still looking, I found what seems to be a good supplier of correx.
Search on google, 'Chiltern Timbers' and you should be directed to a site selling building materials. Then search for correx. They sell sheets of it in various different colours (green, blue, black, white, yellow, red) for about £9. I'm not sure whether the sheets would be substantial enough to make a decent sized cage as I'm yet to order mine and am still doing some research but tell me what you think.
As for grids, search on amazon, eBay and search in google for, Robert May London.
Robert May sell grids (I think about 17 in a pack) and they seem pretty good quality.
I own two piggies myself so I am considering getting them a c&c cage but I am still doing my research. I wanted to know whether they were very sturdy as once a year my guinea pigs have to go to my friends and we woul need to be able to either collapse the cage or transport it all set up.
Best wishes for the new year!

ive always used theonestopplasticshop they have lots of coloured correx and its around £14 per 8ftx4ft sheet they do small sheets on website you need to phone or email for the larger sheets

Also just found another place that stocks correx, you may have heard of it before. It is called, teacrate packaging. They seem only to sell it in black and it doesn't seem that thick (2mm), but I guess you could double it up.

Anyone know where I can get Correx with a sheet size of at least 1.5m by 1.7m? Tried locally and can't find anywhere. I can't adopt my two piggies from wheek and squeak until I've got the floor of their cage ready - its the only thing i'm waiting for.

Found an online site that have their 2.4m x 1.2m priced at just over £3 per sheet excluding delivery. I got the 4mm version so it is a bit sturdier but I think they also do 5mm. Thought it was pretty reasonable, plus they also supply foam tubing I am using to protect the pigs' water bottles!

http://www.protection.co.uk/products/proplex-2mm-corrugated-plastic-surface-protection/

cheers

I like the idea of thicker and a option of black or white and its good prices :)

Oh until P+P and VAT is added... thats a extra £14.50 ontop, still good though as id like the 5mm one.

The sheet of correx I got was from Chiltern Timbers. I was able to collect it as it was pretty close to me so saved myself a bit of money! They will post it as well, not sure how much they charge but you could probably query it.
The sheets are 2440cm x 1220cm x 4mm and that would be enough to make a 5x2 without having to cut any and stick it back on! The correx is really good quality, easy to clean and very durable. It comes in loads of different colours and they also do it a little thinner, 2mm. I know it isn't as big as you would like it but I suppose you might always be able to get 2 sheets and then somehow connect it in the middle?
Anyway here is the link if you are interested:

I got mine in green and the 4mm thickness, haven't had any problems with it yet either.

Just found another link to some -

correx in a c&c cage

i have correx on my top layer which i cover with fleece. For those of you that leave your sides uncovered do you have any problems with your piggies chewing the sides? Mine is a really awkward shape and it would be much easier to just cover the bottom and leave the sides uncovered but I'm worried they may chew it

I'm doing a C&C now, chelle83, and I personally wouldn't do correx without sides... It depends on the pigs, but my Picchu used to chew everything, including the bars of their pet shop cage, so if he were still around he'd definitely have a go. Machu likes to headbutt things and is forever pulling up the newspaper that I put underneath their bedding and trying to crawl under it, so that's another concern, depending on how you secure your fleece. If they get underneath it they're on the grids and will hurt themselves.

The other thing about not doing sides is the mess -- sides stop them from kicking out bedding, hay, etc. so easily!

I bought mine on ebay from Trio Floor Protection. Three 8 x 4 sheets for £20 with no additional delivery, choice of white or black. It's only 2mm but I'm sewing fitted cage liners and Machu is almost completely litter trained (I use the word 'trained' loosely -- he just really decided he prefers to use the tray and that suits me fine!) so I'm hoping it won't be exposed to enough abuse to make that a problem. Three sheets is also more than enough for my cage, L-shaped loft, and lots spare to put sides on a ramp, build a little hidey house, etc.... Also to practice on when I inevitably mess up my first go!
