YAY you're almost ready to go!
have to say although my hubby is letting me make their indoor home hes less than impressed with the idea of having them in our play/chill out/guest room ! I have yet to tell him what size I'm making it as I think, he thinks its going to be about 2ftx4ft when infact its going to be 4ftx5ft !

We brought correx in B and Q today. Well I actually think it was called Corrotherm but same thing I think.

They only had the transparent stuff in 2 different sizes, we brought 2 sheets at 700cm x 120cm at £7.28 each sheet. But they also had sheets that were 700cm x 240cm at about £14 I think.

Hope this helps. x

I bought my correx from a sign shop on Smithdown Road in Liverpool in April 2006. They ordered a six foot by eight foot sheet for me and charged £9.

It was a very windy day and I didn't have a car at the time, so they gave me a lift home in their van! You can't beat scousers for being kind sometimes!

I have just ordered a couple of sheets from Teacreates using the discount code "guinea" it ended up just over £13 for 2 sheets! 1000 x 2000

I got 5 sheets of 61 inch x 41 inch (1550mm x 1040mm) from http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/corrugatedplastic.asp?parentcatname=Corrugated Plastic&parentcat=32 for about £35 with next day delivery.

It is the perfect size for my 3 grid x 4 grid c + c cage.

To make my trays stronger I have doubled up the correx on the base and sides so they are really thick and much stronger than single thickness - it is all stuck together with a lot of white gaffer tape.

I found the double wall construction method much better for things like my stairwell area (for the top of the ramp) I will pop some pictures on the forum over the next couple of days showing it.

Just wanna add they only charged me £7.61 for next day courier to Ireland! That is absolutely dirt cheap! I'm well impressed

Hi,

I just thought I'd add the info on where I got my correx sheet, not sure if it's wonderful value for money but it's great if you have a big C&C cage.

I got a 10ft x 5ft x 6mm thick in grey for £9.40 inc VAT.

The company is called Vanliners, they are based in Bolton so if you live in that area you can just pop in and collect your order, otherwise they deliver but it costs £16.00.

In total it cost me £25.40 for one sheet, but I live in Kent so had to go with the delivery option, they were the only place I found that supplied large enough sheets and will sell one sheet only, most I found you had to buy in bulk.

Their number is 0870 752 1000

I hope this is of some help :)

I've just bought some black 8 x 4 ft correx sheets from Travis Perkins for £4.15 + vat each. Downside is that they're only 2mm thick so I'm going to use double thickness, which means I need 3 sheets= £16 approx. As I live fairly locally they're delivering for free.
I tried all the local signmakers and the cheapest was £20 for the same sized piece but 4mm thick. I would need 2 sheets of this= £40, and I would have had to get it home on my own.

I've just bought 6 sheets of correx (2000mm x 1000mm x 2mm)from www.teacratepackaging.co.uk

6 x Correx Board (CORX) = £22.26 (inc VAT)
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: £22.26
Standard Shipping (Zone 1): £6.99
Discount Coupons:guinea: -£2.23
Standard Rate VAT: £4.26
Total: £27.02 (BARGAIN!)

It is only 2mm thick but thats why I bought so many sheets, so I can double them up.

Can't wait for it to arrive! x

Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out what sizes etc I need to make my C&C cage. Just ordered the grid cubes from Kreshay Impex but am now looking for the Correx.

According to my measurements the Correx from www.teacratepackaging.co.uk is too small to cover a 2 x 4 cage but I think some of you have used this correx to build cages of this size. Am I working this out correctly or are you using less correx for the wall?

2 grid x 4 grid is 28" x 56" (14" per grid) + 12" added to to length and width to allow for the 6" wall .... so you end up with 40" x 68" (1016 x 1727 mm).

The correx from teacratepackaging is only 1000 x 2000 mm so its not quite wide enough for this size cage and anything bigger is out of the question.

I use Profleece Vetbed as a base for my piggies so sawdust etc flying everywhere is not a problem, so I am guessing that a shorter side wall is an option? Mind you saying that poop does fly around as does hay!

I have found 8ft x 4ft correct from thepasticshop.co.uk but you can only order in a minimum of 5 sheets which is £45 + £12.95 (£57.95) which although still a good price per sheet is more than I want to spend in one go.

Any advice appreciated.

Also just realised that the teacrate stuff is 2mm thick whereas thepasticshop is 4mm .... do you have to double up the 2mm?

I bought 8ft x 4ft sheets- 2mm thick from Travis Perkins at just under £5 per sheet. I doubled the thickness of the bottom tray but would work just as well single. Depends on your preference.

I got mine from there. One sheet was plenty enough for the cage and its a 5 x 2 grid. I'm sure the sides were 6" high (after only having my piggies for a day I've cut the sides off cos you couldn't see the piggies properly - I got hay everywhere anyway so a little more won't do any harm!) rolleyes

I was going to double up the sheets, considering the cheapness of the correx its not an expense, but instead I bought a big sheet of hardboard from B&Q for £4-something and got them to cut it half for me, it just gives the base that little bit extra stability.

Basically you can't go wrong getting your correx from Tea Crate Packaging. x

Thanks everyone, I did end up ordering from Tea Crate Packaging ... ordered on Friday but still waiting for the order to despatch. I got 4 sheets so I could double up and have extra for mistakes and if I ever want to change my cage. Can't wait to finish the cage and put my girls in it.

Was having a bit of a dilema as to what to make the ramp out of but discovered a great idea online ... square PVC guttering from the DIY store! My husband has cut it and drilled 3 holes to attach the top of it to the grids with cable ties and I will line it with self adhesive velcro (soft side!). Hope they like it.

Once the Correx and Profleece arrive we are in business!

My cage is finished! The girls are happy campers but no sooner were they in it then they started chewing the correx! I don't think that will last long.

I've put a new chew tube in to try and distract them. Little monkeys!

After looking everywhere 8:)

I've just ordered 6 sheets at http://www.teacratepackaging.co.uk/correx-board-p-88.html -c

A good price, although I'll be doubling them up to provide a better thickness.

Funnily enough it's specifically a packaging company but they know that part of their market is Guinea Pig owners and have used that as a small selling point on their description... brilliant! 8;)

And because they appreciate our custom their 10% discount is still available (correct as of today)... just type GUINEA in the coupon box. :(|)

Anyway, I'm hoping the delivery's going to be quick because I cannot wait to get started on my FIRST ever home-made cage! mallethead

Correx sheets

droolDon't know if anyone else has tried, but

http://www.mdpsupplies.com

also supply correx in various colours.

5 red sheets @ 48 inch x 39 inch (1.2m x 1m or 4ft x 3.3ft)

cost me £28 inc tax (cost £7 delivery which I thought was a decent price).

I ordered giant correx sheets from them at 5.45pm yesterday and they arrived today! Amazing service! I could not be happier :(|)

I got mine from teacrate packaging last week,
I was happy with the service, but the discount code is no longer valid

Correx in Scotland

For anyone from Scotland, I bought my correx, although they call it something different I think, really reasonably priced from a company in glasgow called Stockline plastics, their number is on yell.com. You call them tell them what size you need and they cut it for you and charge by the exact size rather than per sheet. They have a few different colour also. :)

I got my correx from local signs company (estate agents are also good place to ask)

I got my grids from Amazon are good too i just ordered some they are £10 plus postage and VIBRANT colours

got my correx by asking at my local estate agents - they then gave me contact details for a sign board company who ordered some correx for me :))
