COVID-19 Coronavirus

Probably silly question but if we go on lockdown, will I be able to go to the field at the top of my road to pick the grass there alone and if there is nobody about? (I am currently doing this everyday as I cant get enough veg from the shops for my bunnies and piggies)
We don’t know, any restrictions would need to be explained.

Yes. Full lock-down is designed to control the number of people out and about and in shops. A lone person walking to the end of their street and being outside for a few minutes is unlikely to be considered an issue. Plus it certainly sounds like the UK has far bigger issues to sort.

We went food shopping today and the local Asda was fairly well stocked with plenty of veg for the piggies so at least they get to eat for another week.

My parents who are self isolating as they’re in their early 70’s have managed to get an Iceland delivery slot for tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about them for another week.

I also brought more hay for the piggies so they’re ok for sometime.

I just wish people would stop being morons and following government advise on social distancing. My neighbours have had a large gathering at home for the second day running :(

Sadly the morons will ruin things for everyone.

Just seen PM is in emergency Cobra meeting. Surely we are getting closer to more stringent procedures to stop people having mass gatherings, like your neighbours?

It's so difficult to watch isn't it.
But I honestly believe that the panic buying will calm down (it has here) and people will start to sit up and take notice eventually.
The problem is that the government and social media are using different terms and explanations - most people haven't got a clue about 'social distancing' and right now it is being sold as more of a 'serving suggestion'.

The government need to crack down and make it simple for the morons out there.
Language like - 'Do not leave your home except for necessary work, medical emergencies and essential food shopping'. Make is quite clear what is expected. It needs to be spelt out with an absolute list of do's and don'ts.
We had simailr issues in places like Zurich up until ast week when the police started patrolling and issuing on the spot fines to groups of more than 5 people who were seen together. It is far from perfect here too, but it is getting better and people are starting to take notice.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I ventured to my preferred Aldi, I got most of the things on my list, there was still no pasta, rice, tin toms or eggs but on the whole the shop was well stocked, maybe I had just timed it right, however I did get a disapproving look and tutting from a woman as I had chosen a small trolley instead of a deep one assuming I may not be able to get everything and then finding actually I'd filled it quite well, in my head I shouted at her I was doing a normal weekly shop for a family of 4 who will have all of us home most days this week and need to provide 3 meals a day, I only bought one pack of 4 toilet rolls even though there were loads and the sign said I could buy 4. I am also going to be in school for 2 days this week and will be practising the only making essential journeys, I don't want to go out for shopping each day as I would have to take the children too, but I obviously didn't and in the grand scheme of things couldn't be bothered to justify myself to her, it just really annoyed me!
She's probably one of those popping to the park with the rest of the town's people for a day out.🙈

Thankfully today my regular chiropodist appointment was brought forward so I got treated - I've got quite a bad deformed and ingrown toenail ( :vom: tmi sorry!) but I should be alright now for another month and then we'll see how things are... They were operating with one member of staff in (with apron, face mask etc) and reduced, spaced appointments so only ever one member of the public in the building, and thoroughly cleaning the consulting room between each appointment. I was getting a bit worried if it was going to go ahead or not, as things are bad enough without me having to be the sole family shopper hobbling about in agony with my foot!

I think I've finally managed to convince my parents that it isn't sensible for my Dad or my sister (who currently lives with them) to still be going out and doing food shopping and putting my parents at risk (both are in their 70s, both have had colds this last week and my Mum's on steroid medication), so I shall be doing their shopping and leaving it on the front doorstep for them from Wednesday. Having read what the new restrictions are at my vets, I shall be giving Primrose and Stanley a pep talk this evening that, obviously I don't want either of them to get any more hay in their eyes or haypoke injuries at all, but especially not in the next few months...

Well it's lockdown. Only occasions we can leave the house is for infrequent shopping of essentials, travelling to and from work if necessary (all non essential shops will be closed), no gatherings of more than 2 people, can leave for medical needs or to care for elderly/vulnerable. Police now have the powers to enforce through fines and dispersement

All shops to be closed! Did I see somewhere on here that pet food shops would still be open, along with human food shops?

Any ideas if the warehouses for clothing stores will close? Oh works in a clothing warehouse and if they are forced to close he will get 80% pay if he chooses not to be there he will get nothing at all 😔

All clothing stores will be closed and I should imagine as a non essential job that they would close too.

They do home delivery though, Sam said he can't imagine them closing unless absolutely forced to but they keep offering for people to go home with no pay! 🙄

I feel like he should have said "lock down" so people understand this is not a party.

I wonder if being in your own garden is allowed?

Yea alot of places are doing that to get out of paying 80% I've held out to get what I should be given. I'm was worried about going sick and not getting payed.

Yes you can go in your own garden, and you can be there with other family members who live with you - just no garden parties with everyone from your street!

They won't use the term lockdown as it's a media term not official term. It's an instruction and people are being threatened with fines and other police action so I think people can easily deduce this is serious now. You are allowed out the house and obviously your own garden is fine
