COVID-19 Coronavirus

Had a text saying my aunt and uncle have the coronavirus :( making me very anxious. Mum mailed me my anxiety medication over a week ago and doesn’t look like I’ll be getting it. Been trying to ignore the panic as it will drive me mad but hard to ignore it when it’s in the family now :(

We had an oddly reassuring message from work today, "our buildings remain open if you would like to attend work, but all staff who can work from home effectively should do so. If you cannot work from home effectively but believe you may be at risk of infection, please stay home and notify your line manager that you are not working. All staff will continue to receive full pay and benefits for the duration of the crisis whether they work or not".
So... we can just say we can't work from home effectively then stay home on full pay? Yay for academia! Of course I will be working from home, but what good news for the facilities and estates staff!

I love my daughters school, encouraging supporting local business and kindness annd providing us parents with daily updates! Best headteacher ever, for children in need he asked all that could to donate food items so they could stock a local food bank to help local families rather than a cash donation. So blessed with this school honestly! I have edited names out of this screenshot I hope its OK to post!
Just a thought admin @sport_billy could you actually remove the picture from this post please or remove the post altogether thankyou

And not just the fruit and veg of course! Shocking! Hoped for not many people around but loads, thank god I'm home XD Not as much food as I would have liked but thankfully the veggies in the town only hoarded the Quorn mince so a bit for the freezer! And piggies enjoying bistro salad, beansprouts and baby corn:D No loo rolls, baby wipes or tissues though :)) Utter madness!

Any baby oil?

just mad.:td:
People were actually breaking into palettes while the staff were trying to stack them grabbing washing powder etc :yikes: no manners!
No calpol for my 4yr old nephew and my sister hasn’t been able to find any anywhere. Hardly any shower gel, no hand wash, no pain relief! Crazy stuff!

This morning I found no calpol in local big surpremarket but found calpol, paracetamol and loo roll :clap:in my local pharmacy in the parade of shops. Maybe she could try early shop and small chemists?

Yea I couldn't find ibuprofen earlier for a bad neck and headache I had for about 8 hours. Finally got rid of it with nurofen. I think I'm going to to have to shower with a bar of soap soon, after all of this virus, this might all be a good thing for some people, a wake up call to the real world and not just Facebook posting

Ooh thanks I’ll mention it to her, my mum looked for her earlier in other shops and couldn’t find it either! Talking about closing his school (where my 11yr old niece also goes) because so many kids aren’t going so she might have time on her hands when she has to call work! As a home carer for the elderly

I couldn’t buy eggs, they ran out of it but I do have milk so I was relieved.

I rang up my GP on Monday because I have an injection due on Friday (it's important I don't skip it, having it even a couple days late has proven be disastrous on two separate occasions so far) and I wanted to know what the protocol was. Now I've had a cough since November. Anyone who dealt with me in person since November knows this. But because of this cough that's been going on for 5 months I may have to try and source needles from somewhere by Friday afternoon.

Because that doesn't just sound dodgy saying it out loud, I wouldn't even know where to start. I think this is the first time I've been legitimately angry over the whole thing...which sounds kinda selfish, I know. But argh.

Just read a post saying the first dog in Hong Kong that tested positive for coronavirus died :(

The dog was 17 years old reportedly, and was clear of coronavirus. It had just undergone quarantine, breaking all attachments causes a hit to the immune system, as it's so stressful for social animals.

It's good to keep aware of such news, but I don't think we need to worry based on that.

glad you told me :) the article I saw had none of that info

The school may have shadow staff in if she's a carer, ours sent a message saying if anyone is a service sector worker such as fire, police, NHS or a carer to email school with their job title and child's name and class so that if they are forced to close they can try to make provisions for those families where everyone is still healthy and their parents are providing an important service to keep their children in school or provide childcare for them 😊

That link I put about the vaccine, there's big complications with that, one link said ready by April possibly, but others say next year, and there's 3 or 4 different types of corona virus, so there'd have to be a vaccine for each 1, not sure if they mean Sars is one of them. Don't wana give out false hope

How many loo rolls do you have left before you go buy more, and it doesn't count as selfish panic buying.... :hmm:

We work that way with food too, now worrying come Friday when I need to buy food due to empty cupboards there will be none 😭 xx

I know! Really hope the panic buying stops soon and get back to normal. We need public information bulletins on TV saying there's enough food and we need to pull together and not panic buy.
