They are doing, on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and other experts. Who else do you want them to listen to?
Italy has the oldest population in Europe and a very different culture.
I actually think the government have done a good job in being frank with the public and I also think children are better off in school for the moment, contained & washing their hands than at home or playing out as lots will do. Nurses and doctors are parents too, as are childcare providers and hospitals still need to function for current patients.
We have had lots of reassurances from the school & trips are still going ahead. It is prudent to hold off mass isolation until it is absolutely needed around the predicted peak which may change as we know more.
I will take guidance from the government and WHO and do whats best for my family & elderly neighbours in the meantime. I also have no time for conspiracy theories as it achieves nothing apart from spreading fear and anxiety.
Soap and hot water is more effective than an antibac handwash & the obsession with toilet rolls?! ...crazy
