COVID-19 Coronavirus

The local paper has the headline "New Case of Coronavirus confirmed" Its someone who has returned from holiday in Italy. This comes after the first 2 cases in the UK were confirmed in York a few weeks ago.
I am not doing anything different other than wash my hands thoroughly and more frequently. I also take a packet of tissues with me so when I have used public loos and washed and dried my hands I use a fresh tissue to open the doors to exit the toilet area as God knows how many germs have lurked on door handles for years never mind the coronavirus. I then dispose of said tissue in nearest bin.

I have just bought an extra bag of hay for the piggies - thats the extent of my stock piling... if i can't get veg and herbs - I expect there will be a RIOT....

Everyone's washing their hands, but then they get their smartphone out 5 minutes later, with all those Germy fingers marks on the screen and in the case.i anti bac wipe my phone daily, with kitchen anti bac wipes, call it ott, but I watched a programme where they swabbed 5 peoples smartphone screens and the results were horrible.

Same with car steering wheel and gear knob, and work van

As my husband is often not well and has been very ill at times, I always have a small larder of staples at home to cover us for a few more days if necessary until we can organise a supermarket or pet shop delivery; I can ask my neighbours to help with shopping in a pinch and just leave the stuff at the door. Keeping the piggies in veg and looked after will be the biggest problem if one of us or both fall ill.

I have made sure that I have spare basic toiletries and towels in another room in case I should not access the main bathroom on short notice as my hub is at a somewhat higher risk.

The problem is that this is a drawn out process and not a just a quick hunker down and let it pass...

It's something we have always done, my Mum just carried on what my Grandparents did when she lived at home. We rely on publid transport so having a 'stock in' makes it a little easier doing a weekly shop on a weekend just for fresh products. I find it a bit strange now when people completely run out of things before doing a shop!

I haven't looked at today's headlines yet as only just left work. My manager made a point though of how do you decide a cough is just a general cough or something more. It's something we have been discussing lots today.

.
Don't forget@Sar There is the NHS helpline 111 if you need advice. Let's hope you don't need it.
I just hope for everybody's sake that there is a medical solution for the virus soon and everyone can get on with their everyday lives without the anxiety and sufffering that this new virus has caused globally.

Its really sounds ott, but when I clean it, the wipes go from white to light brown. It's crazy.

Be careful not to get any wet wipe in your phone speaker or other holes. And on your steering wheel buttons, if you have any, like stereo volume buttons and what not

It's more likely to be a dry cough and accompanied by a fever apparently. Though many of us could get it and feel fine.

That is a good idea with wipes on phone mate

We've got a confirmed case in the closest school to us, (literally 2mins down the road) my daughter luckily doesn't go to that one but some of her friends do 😩 the school my daughter goes to thankfully has a new policy where kids have to wash hands on arrival and they are sterilising door handles several times a day 😊 🤞🤞

Oh that's a bit close for comfort! Hope all will be ok. I was bored in work meeting today and so was reading the latest evidence and it said that young people don't seem to be getting badly affected, which at least is something reassuring.

Yes fingers crossed, I'm diabetic and a stomach bug has landed me in hospital before but I'm generally healthy so fingers crossed, worried about the kids too but hopefully we won't get it 🤞

I worry about my sister in law because she has m. s and my grandad because he's very old and not well anyway 😒

A man was interviewed on the radio today (via phone) who tested positive and is in isolation (at home I think). He said it wasn't really like flu in his experience. No sore throat, achy joints or runny nose. He did have the typical high temperature and a dry cough and felt generally unwell.

Obviously I should stress this was one mans experience and there will be a wide variety of symptoms and experiences by those affected.

A case in Rotherham too, according to my local newspaper. I've heard that local schools are cleaning doors & asking everyone to wash hands several times throughout the day. I'm in Doncaster ...

We have coughs/colds and sickness bugs going round work too ☹

There’s no hand gel to be had anywhere near here, and antibacterial soap is becoming scarcer by the moment.

this is the time we all have to make sure we look after those around us with health conditions. It is scary times for sure but we in the UK and the western world have an amazing health service and hopefully most of us who get the virus can battle it at home and self isolate to keep others more vulnerable safe. Self isolation will reduce transmission and hopefully protect the vulnerable in society.

as far as the piggies go, I have stocked up in hay in case of supply chain issues, pellets and potted some grow you own parsley herbs in the utility room.

Doncaster schools now cleaning doors/ washing hands.

At work we still have the first coronavirus info poster up. Would the Government publish a new one now the situation has eacalated? Do they even know what they are doing?

If anyone didn't get sick pay for self isolating that would be very bad.

They have changed the rules temporarily and sick pay is now from the first day of sick leave to encourage people to do the right thing and prevent unnecessary spread.

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that this is a virus and not bacteria. No amount of anti bac wipes or hand sanitiser less than 60% alcohol is going to make the slightest bit of difference to covid-19. Best thing to do is continue practicing good hygiene and washing hands properly and if you do suspect you have come into contact with the virus to self isolate, yes it's hard but surely it's better to deal with a couple of months of struggling than to know you are responsible for passing it on to a load more people
