Another day, another visit to the vet

Poor Dora and poor you- sorry you’re dealing with so much lately. I hope things settle now that the stone’s out and I hope your cold clears up soon too.

Our poor girl is not doing well. She is still on antibiotics and passing blood in her urine. Today the amount of blood has got worse and it is bright red. So we are back to the vets at 4pm.

Dora isn't eating enough either so I'm having to syringe feed her. I am beyond upset, having lost Peggy last week I just can't face another loss. I'm actually scared to take her to the vets in case the only option is to say goodbye.😢😢

Oh Yvonne, fingers and paws firmly crossed over here for poor Dora :(

Back from the vets. Dora is still very sore around her bladder, so we now have Gabapentin to help with the pain. The vet thinks part of the problem is that she is trying to avoid passing urine because of the pain and in turn this is keeping the infection in there. There may also be some residual bruising to her urethra from the stone being removed. So we continue with the antibiotics and hopefully the bleeding will lessen over the next week. If it gets worse i am to take her back again.

Next steps are blood tests to check her kidney function and possibly another ultrasound/xray. Although nothing showed up on the previous ultrasound / xray, except for the small stone in her urethra.

The weight loss is probably caused by a combination of pain and the ABs. So i will continue to syringe feed her 3 times a day (as she is eating some food for herself) and hope her appetite returns when she is feeling better.

Here's hoping the gabapentin does the trick, from experience when it works it works. And big :hug:for you as well, take it as easy for yourself as you can for a few days. The stress won't be helping.

Poor Dora and poor you. What a stressful time you're having. Hope the new meds work and she will be in the mend quickly.

You are certainly having a rough time right now. Sending hugs and healing vibes and hoping the gabapentin clicks in very soon. Fight it Dora xx

Poor Dora - hope that the gabapentin does the trick & helps to break the vicious cycle. It’s so hard to see them being uncomfortable and unhappy.
