Am I Welcome Here As A Newbie?

Welcome to the forum! Yes Facebook pages are terrible, full of bad attitudes and poor information. Some info is so wrong it could be potentially dangerous. A lot of the posters made me upset with pics of very VERY poorly pigs saying "what do I do?" but not taking them to the vets :(

It's nice to be here with other people as dedicated and almost as crazy as me! We can all learn from each other and everyone is here for each other through the good and bad times. And of course adorable pics! :D

Even though it's getting slated at the moment, I still tune in for every episode, that and FTWD, I also have every issue of TWD comic too. Looking forward to Morgan crossing over to FTWD. ;)

I couldn't watch FTWD, I found it quite cringe and boring, following that family :mal:

Love TWD though, and I agree @yayoiharuko Negan broke my heart with the Glen & Abraham scene :soz:

I have 2 boys and 3 girls Christian is more of the sexy bum waggler than Dennis is. He does it accompanied by his very virile rumbling! He does it to the girlies to make himself look more attractive to them and he does it to Dennis to say "look what a big hero I am!" None of them take the slightest bit of notice of course but it doesn't stop him from trying!
I think Blue just does it to Oliver because he's convinced that Oliver is too beautiful to be a male. That luscious white fur gets him every time!

Of course your welcome hope you find the answers you need here as for the guinea pig I agree with you I would have no clue what to do a guinea pig that bites me
I'm still at a loss of what to do about it.
I just give him a carrot before he has the chance to bite me XD

Most biters are just very scared piggies. Or use it as a way of telling us they feel unsafe or don't like something. Chickpea will bite me if I carry her from cage to sofa, this means she hates it and most probably feels really vunerable. So for her she will always be transported in a cosy, most of our. Other piggies tolerate being carried. It is all about finding what is triggering the biting. Piggies don't bite out of hate, they mainly bite as a way of letting you know they are fearful of nervous of something. Often bites can be mistaken food :))
Yes I feel like he does it as a way of telling me that he's very scared. I don't necessarily think he does it because he thinks I'm food. Oliver will once in a while give me a little taste test but Blue just bites me as hard as possible and as many times as possible, a lot like a bee or a wasp D;

Hi, I am glad that you received lots of welcoming and assuring messages!

I joined here about a month ago, when my piggy was unwell and I needed some advice. There are, of course, some advices I feel I should follow more than the others. But everybody who replied really loved piggies and their replies were sincere.

Sometimes this sort of communication can be difficult as this is only done by writings. As we cannot see other aspects of communication, such as facial expression, tone of the voice, body language, it is easy to misunderstand the tone of the post hence get offended. We need to be careful both when read and write a post but nobody is perfect!

I really think that people here are loving and caring. You are more than welcomed by everybody!
I definitely agree with what you said.. sometimes when we type things out online it can come off as if we don't have empathy. I'll try to be more considerate next time.
Thank you~
p.s. I hope your piggie is doing better!

Welcome to the forum!

I also have dogs and am lucky enough to be able to keep my guinea pigs in a separate room (dining room). I also keep them on tables so that if the dogs did get in they would be out of reach, much easier for cleaning too.

Hope you find a good solution.
That looks AMAZING.
Did you make those beds yourself, or use doll beds?
How do you manage to keep it so clean?
I clean my guinea pigs cage daily and it doesn't look that clean.

Definitely you are welcome and I hope you find good information here! We were all newbies to start with and there's nothing wrong with that. It's how we learn! So welcome to you and your piggies!
Thank you!

Ok.. I think that's everyone. I'm sorry if I missed you D; I'm still getting used to forums.. If I missed your response just yell at me XD
Thank you everyone!:luv::wub:

Keeping piggies is a constant battle with poop! They are poop machines! I had my 5 on a blanket for cuddle time today and by the time all 5 had had a cuddle (about 30-45 minutes) the blanket had so many poops on it looked like they'd been on it for a week. Most people clean up their cages before photos - never believe a clean looking cage!

You will also be amazed at how far piggy poop travels.
I found some in the kitchen this morning - must be from yesterday’s playtime but how they found their way there I do not know.

I once joined a guinea pig forum and as I had AOL at the time as my isp I was made out that I must have been someone else....which was odd.
This was quite a few years back.

I use dolls beds from ikea. I clean them out daily but because it is such a big cage the mess is spread about and doesnt show up so much. I love cleaning them out!

This Forum was a great improvement from GPC. I felt very judged because my financial situation wasn't great at that moment. I HATE HOW THEY WOULD SPELL LIKE THIS TOO:D Anyway one thing that always made me laugh is how they tried to sell their products sometimes I would look through old threads from years ago. They would be like Buy Our this for a bunch of money.

Anyway moved on from that Forum and everyone at this Forum is amazing! Never knew I would get a bunch of good info here but I have! :nod:
