@Adelyn's Piggies

I’m very happy to introduce you to Sunny!
She is six weeks old ❤️

Here’s some backstory on her that the rescue provided. Her parents were part of a large group of piggies dumped behind a bowling alley. They were picked up by the Douglas County Animal intake, who quickly realized that 8 of the females were pregnant! They didn’t have the proper space/experience for them, so Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue kindly took in all the females. Soon after, little Sunny was born.

I took Clover and Stella to the rescue for a bonding session with Sunny and they immediately hit it off. Zero signs of aggression. In fact, Clover and Stella seemed quite surprised by this bold little piggy marching up to them and sniffing them all over. XD

After more than an hour, we decided that they had accepted each other. Sunny came home with us!
She is certainly not a scaredy pig. Within minutes of placing her in the cage, she began popcorning around in glee! Poor Clover and Stella are baffled by this little ball of energy

The first full day is over, and everything is going better than l'd hoped! My first impression was correct, Sunny is a bold little piggy. :D While I was sweeping the cage out, I thought she'd go and hide. She's a baby in a new place! But no ... she marched right up to me, her little tufts of hair bobbing up and down, and tried to nibble on the mini dustpan :)) She’s absolutely adorable.

Stella seems to have taken Sunny under her wing. She is the one comforting Sunny if she gets nervous, and she has been nibbling/licking around Sunny’s eye a lot  I’m very glad about that because Stella is the most dominant one.

Here are some pigtures, because I’ve been taking tons. Sunny’s pink little puppy dog nose is so cute:wub::wub::wub:

It’s been about 3 weeks and Sunny is doing well :D She is warming up to me and has learned how to beg already :)) She is a force to be reckoned with, how do you ignore such a tiny fluffy face?!
With a proper bribe, she is even letting me give her tiny pets on the head

Stella had one dominance phase that lasted a couple days, but that has long been over (much to Clover’s relief. She kept getting caught in the crossfire). Everypig has happily settled down into their new routine.

Oh gosh Sunny is stunning and sounds a really confident little character 😍
She really is! Contrary to the normal piggy mindset, she assumes every new thing is completely safe and nothing to be afraid of. The only way she changes her mind is if the thing shows itself to be scary (like the vacuum cleaner coming too close to the cage!).

It was a welcome surprise for me. I was expecting it to take a while to tame her/bond with her, and here she is trying to climb my legs at floor time 🤣

We hit a milestone today - Sunny got her first nail trim! Her little baby nails were getting much too long and sharp 😬 She was very confused when I started to trim. Presently she realized what I was doing, and like the sassy little thing she is, began attacking the clippers with a barrage of little nips. XD Apart from that, she was a good girl and we had the ordeal over fairly quickly. 😊

Here she is showing off her nails - and the cute heart shape on her belly:IMG_8189.webp

Aww I bet she makes you happy, I see her cage mate by her two, I have 2 males and they are soo cute but make sure to cherish the moments with them, it feels like I got mine yesterday but they are almost a year time goes by fast with guinea pigs they are such characters and I won’t be able to live without guinea pigs now, they are such awesome creatures and I’m glad you trimmed your guinea pigs nails because that is important for them (sorry about the rant)

I agree, I don’t know what I’d do without guinea pigs 🥰 Sunny’s cage mates are Stella (who you can see in the picture) and Clover.

Time really does fly by . . . my oldest piggy (Clover) is six and a half now ❤️
