If you can go see Simon or Kim they are marvellous x
So sorry Go get an appointment with Simon and Kim if you can, at last will you get a proper assessment and give her a chance, conscious dentals only cost £60 and a one off consultation fee of a similar cost. The guinea pigs just sits on a bench and is held around the back end by a vet nurse, a little brace is placed in their mouth to keep the mouth open and the vet gently files the teeth down. The whole procedure takes about 5-10 minutes.Clover's just come out of the vet and it is indeed her teeth. Her lower one's have grown over her tongue. The vets said she's dying and we can either try and treat her (monthly anesthesia, £200-300 a time likely monthly and won't ever get better) or PTS. She's also suffering from aspiration from inability to swallow.
I mentioned Simon Maddock and she said that she and many vets disagree entirely with what they do.
Don't really know what we can do. I don't want to give up on her, but I can't afford that kind of money.
Would you be able to get her seen sooner than me?We are willing to offer her a permanent place here at TEAS. Simon and Kim are amazing and it really makes me angry when vets say they disagree with what they do, but haven’t even bothered to go and find out more xx
I’d call for one of their emergency appointments, that are released every morning at 8 am.Would you be able to get her seen sooner than me?
I really am thinking of you.I've booked an appointment for 26th August but I can't see her lasting that long. I'll have to keep calling for a cancellation.
I've emailed you xI’d call for one of their emergency appointments, that are released every morning at 8 am.
I find very frustrating that so many vets won't acknowledge the amazing work that Simon and Kim do. What we do, here at TEAS, has been insulted too! One vet said that TEAS sounds a bit Alice in Wonderlandish! No, it's not a fairy story, I work bloomin damn hard!Oh she is adorable..
Really disappointed in your vet saying they and so many disagree with what C&R do. I drove my boy there (only from Oxford) after our regular vet examined him after 300g weight loss and said he had spurs that needed removing. They couldn't operate for three days, so I got an emergency appointment at C&R and Simon took him out the back, came back 15 minutes later with two very small, hard pieces of hay that had been lodged between his back teeth and been rubbing, causing pain and stopping him eating. He was right as rain from then on.
Happy to help in any way. Please do try and get her seen ASAP - happy to be a stop-gap if needed/form a train to get her there x
That's horrific! I really do question some vets' motivation, I think a lot of it is financial, they just don't seem to understand the care, love, and heartache involved outside of invoicing for appointments, it really frustrates me.I find very frustrating that so many vets won't acknowledge the amazing work that Simon and Kim do. When I needed to take Meg last year, I called for an emergency appointment at 8am on a Monday morning and was offered 10am initially but when I said I had to travel from Bournemouth, they had another later appointment available for Meg which I took.I’d call for one of their emergency appointments, that are released every morning at 8 am.
Your really do amazing work at TEAS. The piggies you care for are often written off by their local vets and you are their last chance. Having visited TEAS it is heart warming to see these piggies receiving the care they need and enjoying normal piggy lives.I find very frustrating that so many vets won't acknowledge the amazing work that Simon and Kim do. I hope that Clover can get the help she needs.I've emailed you x
So glad you were able to see him. What time were you there? I was there this afternoon xClover went to Simon in Northampton this afternoon. Her teeth were indeed awful and he said that it's uncommon for a pig's teeth to be so hollow and wobbly on top of them being that overgrown. She's not in good shape and he said that when we go back in two weeks we'll hopefully be able to decide whether to PTS or continue.
Thanks for all your help, I'll try and update.
