Hi All!
I have a piggy called Monty who is just over 2 years old. He lives with his brother Trevor. Trevor's fine and doesn't have any problems.
They live in a massive cage with a paper based bedding. It's got a hay rack in it as well of course, with water, pellets etc.
I've had guinea pigs...
Hello, I'm Kate and have just joined the forum! I have two guineapigs Pippin(4 years), and Bertie (2 years).
I am in need of some advice for Pip, as all of a sudden he has had a sneezing "fit" where he sneezed approx 10 times in 6/7 minutes. I took him out of his cage and he had a little play...
So Mo's teeth are fine! Front ones are perfectly straight and growing at even rates- which is a huge relief because Mo did at one point loose one of his top teeth (well most of it there was a mini stump left). Anyway the only fear I have is occasionally -like just now- he'll get a strand of hay...
Hey all,
I noticed my piggies tend to waste about half of the hay I give them. They will pull hay out from their rack onto the floor, and pull hay out of their hay ball as well. I also put a small pile of hay under their veggies in the morning, and they will eat about half of this pile and...
Hi piggie parents... our piggies came to live with us yesterday (2 young boars)... they have a hutch with access down a ramp to a run. I'm currently using newspaper to line the hutch.. then a layer of dust extracted wood shavings in the main area, and filling their bedroom area with Timothy hay...
Hello!
I'm still new here so please be patient and pardon any ignorance hahaha
So I adopted this super cute piggie from a rough situation.
His whole life, he's eaten only one handful of timothy hay and half a carrot daily - that's it!
I'm not sure how old he is, so I don't know how long he's...
Sorry about Noodle biting the bars she thinks MoMo is gone forever when I get her out lol
Also does anyone have any good tips on how to make cage liners? I'm going to make my own and then extend the cage so that hudsons in a c&c instead of his tiny cage :( I'm getting him neutered soon so...
Since I got my guinea pigs I have been feeding them Timothy hay.
I recently bought a very small bale of oxbow orchard grass for a change and it was very popular.
I like the Orchard grass as apparantly so I read it has a lower calcium content then most hays and its much softer then timothy...
Hi everyone,
I've noticed recently that my un-neutered male guinea pig (~3yrs old) is pooping out smaller poops with one tapered end. I'm reading that probiotics can help digestion. I came across this product: National Geographic™ Nutritious Topping Timothy Hay Small Pet Food | small pet Hay |...
I'm keen to hear from other owners who have a large number of pigs or who otherwise get through a lot of hay.
I'm currently ordering a 10kg bag of Ings hay from Hay and Straw once every 3-4 weeks. This is getting a wee bit on the pricey side, so I went searching for a bale of farm hay in my...
Hi everybody,
Just wondering, I know it ok for piggies to eat these :)) :)), but I have heard some things about them being not so good due to their calcium content.
Is it ok to free feed these as treats as mine totally love them
If so how many would be ok to hand feed?
Help! I've been trying to find the best way to keep hay in my piggies cage. I've always just done big piles of hay with my previous piggies and is what I'm currently doing with my new one. I know the piggies like the big piles of hay but unfortunately it's just end up getting very messy...
We had an issue with overgrown molars with my other piggie and the vet highly advised we have to ensure atleast 80% of our pigs diet was hay. We always make sure he has a large amount of hay and half a bowl pf biscuits every morning and he gets a veggie treat every sunday. But were having an...
So due to various reasons I've just moved my remaining pig Weasley's cage in to my bedroom yesterday evening. Gave it a thorough clean, disinfected, all new hay, toys, the works. The pigs have always slept in my room wheb we visit relatives back hime so I didn't forsee any issues with this. Went...
When feeding pigs grass does it count as part of their daily hay portion or as part of their greens ration?
Is grass that has frost on it, but is now completely defrosted, okay?
Is grass from horses' fields okay? (We do regularly worm our horses, but dogs can get sick from eating horse poo...
I'm in the market for a new hay, as current hay has changed. I know there are loads of threads on here regarding hay, I've been reading through them. It all seems very confusing as to what is good/bad, what WAS good and isn't now, what changes in every bag etc. I've looked into various ones like...
Hi all!
Things seems to be going pretty well since transitioning my two boys from shavings to fleece (which is good:yahoo:) but the hay seems to get all over the fleece! I know it's not a massive issue but it really bugs me, anyway of solving this, or will I have to bear it?
Here's the gist, my Cavy is refusing to eat his pellets or his hay but he will gladly accept fruits and veggies and his treats. He is kind of large (always has been since I adopted him) and this is unlike him to refuse to eat his pellets or hay. He is always the first one to his food bowl to...
My little man is as odd as they come. When I bought him, I got the largest cage in the shop and every toy/feeder/bedding you can imagine... none of them lasted, he hated them all! So I had to get my thinking cap on and figure out some alternatives! With a little rummaging around the house I...
Just a few pics of my munchkin, Sunny, and me. He loves snoozing in his hay on warm days because the sun shines into his cage in the afternoon. He's also quite fond of sucking our fingers during cuddle time
He's a nine months old abby who's addicted to kale ❤
