Hi,

Just a quick question - today, I bought Zucchini for my piggies to try. Is this veggie safe to give them everyday? If not, how often can I feed it to them? I was also curious what vitamins Zucchini provides for piggies.

Thank you!

Yes it can be fed but I think a couple of times a week rather than daily. Though by the looks of things most piggies don’t like it, my boys included 🤷🏾‍♀️

She didn't touch it, I think I may try it with her again tomorrow since she didn't eat any of it today.

None of mine like it either. Someone said to try removing the green skin and just feed the inner pulp - it didn’t make any difference, they still didn’t eat it!

My lot will only eat it if it's pealed and then they leave it to last and only eat it as its the last veg left.

Mine aren’t crazy about it but they do eat it, plus it’s more nutritious than cucumber so it’s worth a try to see if she’d like it. It took a while before mine decided it’s okay to eat. It’s a good thing to have in rotation :)

Mine won’t touch it peeled, unpeeled, sliced or diced. No idea why.

Mine hate it, they expect it to be cucumber and when it isnt I get "the pig eye" of disapproval, a bit like the day Theo expected the white chunks to be apple but they were actually turnip :)

If at first you don’t succeed. Maybe she’ll be one of the minority who eat it.

Yes, it is safe to feed. Zucchini (US) - courgette (UK) is related to cucumbers. Some piggies like it but many don't.

Never tried mine on turnip have to give it a try.

Turnip definitely wasnt a hit, but I loved the way Theo ate it anyway, giving me an evil look of betrayal with every bite!
I had the same thing with watermelon this afternoon, Ollie and Tallullah do not like it at all. Its like a cucumber masquerading as a strawberry but it isnt either! What are these hoomans doing confusing the poor piggies like this?!

Luckily my lot have learned they'll get what they're given, like it or lump it 😂 at first they hated it,but I kept on offering it, usually the round variety, same with marrow and eventually they started to eat it. Now it's one of everyone's favourites! They were the same with squashes and swede.

Mine love butternut squash.
Mine hate butternut squash, all 8 of them look at it like its poison! Which is really annoying because we buy a squash almost every week, and only the giant snails will share it, so we end up eating butternut squash 3 days a week just to use it up. Last night we had butternut squash chilli, tonight its squash lasagne... tomorrow may well be squash curry! Fussy piggies just wont have it at all!

Mine don't like courgette but then I don't blame them as I don't either.
They like swede but I've never tried them on turnip.
Surprisingly Micah doesn't seem wildly keen on cucumber - he'll either learn to like it or the girls will scoff the lot.

Have you tried oven baked butternut squash "chips" they are very nice. Spray a baking tray and them with frylight and cook them for 20-30 mins at 180 fan.

The boys have had turnip before. They’ll eat it but I wouldn’t say they particularly like it 🤷🏾‍♀️
