Womble's mysterious symptoms.

I’m always one of those persistent people who must drive vets mad. I never stop asking questions, the poor vets must feel like they are being interrogated by me sometimes. I know my pigs and so did you! I often feel our views are overlooked or thought of as a bit bonkers but it’s a gut feeling you get when somethings not right
Hope Womble makes a sound recovery very soon x
Can you tell me how you prepare oats for your guineas when they lose weight?

Yes, just empty a handful into a small bowl, Ted used to love them just dry. they are easy to eat and got a few calories in too. All The TEAS Rescue piggies get them daily too

Thank you :) How much?

For future reference here were some of the noises Womble was making in his sleep.
He was also on occasion doing light squeaks as he breathed but those were harder to pick up with the microphone.

This is the one that I wasn't focussed on getting a good look at him but to get as close as I could to pick up the noise as I had been unsuccessful in the past.

This is him sleeping in the hay cube making the noise. :(

I think if this carries on we're going to ask if they can put him under for a chest x ray.

He's nodding a lot and I am waiting for the 2nd opinion from the vet for the x rays. They said they would get back to me either yesterday evening or this morning. I phoned them just before and they said they had not looked at the x rays. I just want to help him. 😞 What else can I do for him? I feel so helpless.

The waiting and feeling helpless are difficult.
There’s no easy solution and no quick fix.
Just remember that you are doing everything possible for Womble and that he couldn’t be in better hands.

Thank you. It's just difficult to watch him struggle. 🐹

When Meg wasn't right last year and my very good piggie vet couldn't find what was wrong, we took a trip to C&R in Northampton (6 hour round trip) and Kim diagnosed what was wrong in 10 minutes! It really is worth a trip there if you can.

Thank you I'll talk to my husband about it.

Aw Simon and Kim at the Cat and Rabbit Clinic are the best! Although it’s a 600 mile round trip for us these two vets are the vets of choice for our piggies. Of course my Ted was a regular visitor for his conscious dentals with Simon which kept Ted happy and munching. I can thoroughly recommend them, they are general vets who specialise in small furries and their experience and expertise is second to none. They knock spots off our exotics vets down here, no comparison!

Any news on lovely Womble x
Thank you for asking, he's seems relatively well. He's having a wheeze now and again but it wasn't as bad as it was when he had his bad episode.

We're going up to the exotics on tomorrow evening to discuss his x rays and his wheezing and see what they think.
