Why I hate guinea pigs!!

I first got my first pair of guinea pigs ted and toffee after my friends mum cycled with her and her guinea pig on the backsest . I fell in love with their soft velvet ears, smooth chubby lips and big vegetable seeking eyes. I have now owned over 9 guinea pigs in my life Valentine and coffee my current and they completely take over your life your soul and money. Guinea pigs may look soft and cushy but they are the most dangerous adictive animals ever so that's why I hate guinea pigs because my life will never be complete ever without them!!

My guinea pigs don't smell. Do you mean their own personal smell or the smell from the cage/hutch?

If your piggies are fed a healthy diet and cleaned out regularly they shouldn’t smell. Mine don’t smell and they all live indoors. How many do you have and how often are you cleaning the cage?

I keep mine in the garage in their hutch. They are on washable puppy pads and hay. The only time they slightly smell is when it's hutch cleaning day which is at least once a week.

@AnsleyLynne if they’re smelly you may need to clean them more often. Wee is the thing that will smell most of you leave it unchanged for a long time. But the piggies themselves shouldn’t smell.

Apart from and empty purse there are no side effects to this addiction.

I have 4 indoor piggies who only smell if I haven’t had time to clean the cage as soon as I should

Here' in the house, we love the smell of readi grass! The piggies go crazy when they smell it every time I refill their bowl.

Never bought readigrass is it good stuff? How often should it be fed? Lots like hay or just as a treat?

It’s a treat thing - too rich to be fed regularly, higher calcium content

My piggies have it everyday. Others said not to give them everyday, but I haven't had any issues with them. It's what they eat a lot at the moment instead of fresh grass since our council has cut all the grass in the area around November and it will not grow until spring.

Mine have run time every other day as they are living in the garage. The run gives 2 piggies 16sq ft and the hutch gives the other 2 piggies 12sq ft. I may have to find some Readigrass for them. They are so spoilt though I don't think I can afford to get them anything else!

The bag does last quite a while and stays fresh as well.

Wouldn't it be great? I would love if we could extend the lifespan of pets!
