I’ve been pondering this for some time now, we got our guinea pigs because they fitted our requirements for having a pet more than any other pet we could find. However within a couple of days we have become guinea pig obsessed, and now prefer them to any other kind of pet. But it has got me wondering what is it about guinea pigs exactly that make them so endearing? They obviously look cute but there is something about their personalities and their interaction with us – very shy, Needing quite a lot of input to get them to like you et cetera, the never ending poos, that is extra special... but I wondered what it was about YOUR pigs that make you think that the best pet in the world?
Here are these two, Renton and Spud, sharing stinky blanket. Wondering how to look even more cute to get coriander.

I have six boars living in 2 pairs and 2 singles. Other than their over all complete fluffball cuteness.
I love the way they interact together in their pairs and when they meet through the bars at floor time.
The way they are all completely different characters.
How they manipulate and interact with humans.
Do something once they liked (usually food related) and they expect it to become part of the daily routine.
How the heck do they tell the time? Is it tummy o'clock?

I love the many styles of piggy naps, the croissant, the chooken, the pancake, the side flop... and I love the way their ears wiggle up and down when they eat hay, I can watch that for hours... I do watch that that for hours, that's why I am sat watching Tallulah hippo eat and Ollie pigwig sleep and chatting online to other crazy guinea pig ladies rather than doing any work lol :)

I know! I spend many hours gazing at them instead of the Madonna gazing at the baby Jesus. They just have something no other key has. I think the fact we have at least two As well, you end up watching their lives play out. Like a wildlife docco!

In the style of the madonna*

I dont have such a strong connection with any other species (even humans 🤣)
Theyre expressive and easy to communicate with, and with a lot of mine, I love how willing they are to extend trust and friendship to me even when they've been given every reason not to by previous owners. They have a great sense of humour, even the most stoic and calm piggy has a silly side.

I think this sums up perfectly in my view! They have a wicked sense of humour but can be the sweetest most loving animals. After 21 years I am as addicted as I ever have been ! (and so is my husband although he may not completely admit it!)

I have loved rodents since I was a small child... I can't even say why for sure. My first pets were mice. Whereas some girls I knew were in love with horses, I was enamored with all the small animals instead. I've often been in circumstances where a cat or a dog wasn't an option for me and I feel like animals are a necessity for me to live a happy life, so I've had a variety of rodents or little critters since I was a kid. The short lifespan wears on me emotionally, but I love them anyhow.

For me, guinea pigs are almost a midpoint between a rodent and a dog or cat. They are bigger than the other rodent pets, they live longer (which is a huge plus for me.) They have behaviors that I associate with a dog or cat (following me down the hall, mooching for food.) They take awhile to warm up and feel safe, but there's something special about earning the trust of an animal that is cautious by nature. They're big enough that you can feel them when they sit on your lap. They are expressive. They communicate well with the humans. I like that they are social with one another... we've had several pairs over the years and I find the relationship between my pigs touching to watch. They have a genuine connection. They mourn losses. They are happy to see one another after a separation. They look to each other to learn new things or for comfort. They give me kisses. They clearly have a bond with us as well as each other. They are just genuinely nice animals... probably the nicest of the small animals I've had over the years.

I love all these responses, I love how piggies just capture your heart. ❤️🧡💛💚💜

Spud agrees too, also wonders if you have any coriander?
