Whooping cough?

I’m not sure if Dan (OH) has whooping cough, or something else?
I’ve never seen him this ill before, and the cough is horrendous! He also says he’s never felt this bad before.

He started with watery eyes and nose, and now he’s got a horrendous cough (worst I’ve ever come across) and is in pain as a result

I did hear that there’s something spreading around?

Any cough advice is much appreciated! We’ve tried cough medicines, honey and steam
 
I've heard there's a particular unpleasant cough going round lately, but whooping cough is very distinctive so it should be obvious if Dan had that. I hope he is better soon!

My only advice on coughs is to go to sleep sitting up, I always find the coughing is worse if I'm lying down.
 
Try antihistamine- use a liquid one so that you can split the dose accross 24hrs, for better coverage.

Also whooping cough usually sounds like a seal barking. Steam used to be recommended for whooping cough. I have sat in a steamy bathroom before playing with small children. They now vaccinate against whooping cough, as part of routine vaccinations.

Poor Dan, hope he is better soon 🤞Whooping cough is on the rise and increased by 230% in some areas of the UK, was he vaccinated as a child as this should give some protection as far as I know.

So sorry he’s not well.
Lots of liquid to help lubricate the throat should help.
The advice to sleep sitting up is good too.

Thank you all. He’s a bit better today. He’s still poorly but not coughing quite as much as yesterday.
It may not have been whooping cough, could have been another Covid strain? Who knows 😔

I’m really worried that I’ll get it next, and then I’ll be poorly for Christmas!

He’s definitely coughing less this evening, and he’s up and about for the first time in 2 days. Hopefully that’s all good signs 🤞🏻
 
Poor Dan. I hope he’s on the mend.
I really swear by steam inhalations to help with coughs. When I had pleurisy in my 20s the hospital recommended inhaling vapours infused with Karvol capsule, and steaming my bedroom. I used to take the kettle in there, remove the lid and then keep boiling it until the room was pretty much steamed up. And I was recommended to lift the head end of the bed and sleep propped up. Oh and some horrific cocktail of ABs that made my hair drop its perm over night.
Then when the boys were little I used the steam and Karvol again and found it really helped.

Pleased Dan is feeling a bit better even if he has no voice.

I've had a bad cough for a few days now. My tummy muscles hurt where I've been coughing so much and my headaches every time I cough. I don't want to play anymore.

These are very similar symptoms to what Dan has had. There’s definitely something making its way around!

This seems to be doing the rounds at work, so i'm avoidng the office and working from home this week. Hope you start to feel better soon.xx
 
This sounds like a very nasty virus. There’s a lot of sufferers around here too.

To top things off I woke up with gungy yellow sticky stuff sticking my eyes together and blood shot itchy eyes so it looks like I have Conjunctivitis now too. Wonderful! Anybody want to through something else at me? I may as well have everything.

I have a bad cough, sore throat, I'm not sleeping well and now I have Conjunctivitis!
