I am currently in the process of changing from newspaper and Back 2 Nature pellets to just puppy pads, in my litter trays. I am thinking (hoping! ) that puppy pads will work out cheaper in the long run.
I bought a bag of 30 "Simple Solution" pads (£12.60) from Fetch, and am trying it out with those, with some paper pellets on the top, the pads fixed in place with split pins.
Which brand of pads do other members use? How do you use them in your trays (litter or other)?

I guess it depends on how much newspaper and puppy pads are in your area? I get newspaper for not much and puppy pads are more expensive. I am trying those too though, so I just put one in (maybe fold it to fit). My piggies don't seem to want to leave newspaper, so I put a sheet on top :) I use the one from home bargains, not sure of the brand atm but I'll look. I like the ones from Wilko, but they're too expensive to have all the time.

Edit; here is what I'm using. It's cardboard, but it's strong compared to the usual box type. I also just put down newspaper or puppy pads in the cage like below

:D Getting hold of newspaper is not too much of a problem, as a friend of mine gives me lots, when I need it. I was thinking that with using just puppy pads (and no pellets) , it would cut down on waste. The Back 2 Nature pellets create a lot of waste, although of course it is environmentally friendly. I could also use the pads in their sleeping areas, instead of Zorb fabric, and cut down on the amount of washing I have to do every week!
Here's the new line in litter tray liners, being modelled for you by the lovely Miss Dandy!

Ah that's true! I have to chuck away way too many bags honestly because Ginny, the guinea pig definition of toilet, goes everywhere. Although I might suggest not using puppy pads for them to put under their houses etc because if they did wee in there and stay there it might give them urine scold?

I like that @7squeakers. ! I'm hoping to do something like that for all of our cages, just in the process of sorting a new cage out for two sets of our boars :)

In regards to puppy pads, I used them inside my guinea's house last year, I covered them in fleece and it worked pretty well, it soaked the pee up and I did change it daily, they shouldn't get burns because pads aren't meant to absorb the wee and my guinea's were perfectly fine. When I do the kitchen I may chop up the mattress liners I have and buy a new one (I use them when the sit on my bed, did use them when they had fleece in their cage). I'm actually considering getting more pads to cover the pads inside their new houses that I've order OR I can just ask my Mum to make me some fleece pads :) I might go for the fleece pads.

:D @CarnivalPiggy I use the Zorb under fleece, as the fleece helps to keep their bums dry! Tried the pads under some of the houses last night and seems to have worked quite well. Not very wet at all, and hasn't gone through to the mini liners underneath. I would need an awful lot of pads to do this every day, though! And I STILL have to wash the fleeces! :doh:

:D Tehe! I've got 1 cage 5 X 4, and three 5 x 3, and 9 piggies. I am trying to limit my piggie washing to just once a week (on Thursdays) , so the pile mounts up- or the amount piles up- whichever way you like to look at it!
If I can change from Zorb to puppy pads, then that will slightly decrease the amount of washing to do.

:D I have to wash twice a week, three if I have their houses!

4 2x5's and 1 2x3 soon to be 2x4.. however I'm making a cage but it'll still be about the same size as a 2x5, I just don't want to use grids in the living room, it'll be two tiered for two sets of our boars. We have 10 guinea's. I would get more but we just don't have the room lol

Np, they aren't too expensive either :)

Wow. Anyone would think you work in Dreams that sell beds! XD
I only have one cage hehe :)) I don't use puppy pads, I'm sorry I can't be very helpful.

Sorry for the late reply, it's my birthday so people are setting up a party thing :D

Here it is, fourty puppy pads for five pounds from home bargains, guessing the brand is mypets. And I do mine every three days, luckily not much washing for me :))

:D Wow! Forty pads for £5? That's better than 30 for £12.60. I'll have to google Home Bargains. I hope they do mail order! AND it looks like my sisters puppy on the box!:)):))

:D As I said in a previous post, I have one 5 X 4 cage and three 5 X 3 cages. I have recently changed from Ziggy liners to fleece and towels because the liners can be difficult to get dry. Fleece blankets and towels will be easier to wash. I also have two of these;

two of these;

four of these:

and three of these:

and they all have fleece or vetbed with Zorb, in or under them! That's why I have so much washing!
The wooden huts also have mini cage liners inside and are lined with newspaper, but these are only changed monthly.

:D I will DEFINITELY have to stock up! Bought a pack of 30 from Fetch, only been using them for 3 days and only have 2 left now! A trip to Asda is on the cards, I think! :tu:
