Which indoor cage?

Hi, I'm new here. I'm planning to get two guineas soon (v excited about this) and have managed to pursuade my OH that they should live indoors with us. Anyway, I have been scouring the forum for info on homes, bedding etc and my head is spinning - don't want to make the wrong decisions!

I've been looking at two cages and wondered which you thought would be best and if you had any experience of either. The two I'm looking at are:

Why not make a C&C cage cheaper, more affordable and larger !

This is my C&C cage at present - I have more than 2 pigs but just to give you the idea!

For two Guinea Pigs you would need a 4x2 - so one of my levels. It also allows you to design the cage yourself. One pack of grids would make you a cage more than big enough for 2 piggies.

They are also available from B&Q - but are Out of Stock in most Stores. However you can order them in but can take quite some time. People where saying on the forum a while ago that it took over 6 weeks for them to arrive.

Me being impatient I prefer Ebay .

Well done on doing your research first!
The cage/house should be ideal for small to large piggies, they grow so quickly I'm attaching a link which gives you the size of cage/house suitable for piggies.
I had my OH make one for us, it's 3 sided wooden sides and one side persplex, with a mezzanine floor, all the piggie cages that were available at the pet store were small and had wire bottoms mallethead
C&C cages/houses are brilliant too!

Ive got the second one, but have to agree a c&c is much better if you can.. wish i could, then you can make it fit in a certain space and add if you need to x

It's better to take a C&C cage or maybe an indoor hutch. My best friend made an extension and she kept a bunny hutch in there.

I've got an R5a coming up for sale soon. Love it! Had it since January but now need bigger cage as got 4 piggies need to house (long story!)

I was also looking at the first one a couple of weeks ago and I know somebody who has recently purchased the second one.
I would say go for the second one because it look as though has a lot more room.
But I am with the other ladies and would defo consider a C&C.
I am about to start building my own too.

I just got the R5A about a week ago and it's brilliant. My boys like the extra shelf (I've only used one of them) and there is plenty of room for their sofa and toys. You can pull out the bottom tray which makes cleaning a snap and being on wheels, it's very easy to move around. I like the doors on the top and front.

They were in a slightly larger cage (about 155 x 75 cm) before, which our two guest pigs for the summer are now staying in, but the smaller floor space is made up by having the extra storey. The ladder isn't great, but they are happy to use wooden steps I also got from Zooplus.

Actually, if you check the dimensions, the R5A has slightly more floor space (122 x 62 x 91 cm) than the Ferplast 120 (118 x 58.5 x 51.5 cm) and the extra height makes a difference if you have pigs that like to climb around a bit.
