I was wondering what everyone feeds their guinea pigs on a daily basis as I would really like to try and change up my guinea pigs salad more often and ensure that their diet is well balanced.

What lettuces are the best to feed to guinea pigs? I understand iceberg lettuce is not recommended for guinea pigs due to it having very little nutrition and I tend to avoid romaine lettuce as I think it may have been the cause of white urine for my guinea pigs. Are there any lettuces that will not cause this and are recommended to feed to guinea pigs? What leafy green vegetables would you recommend feeding to guinea pigs as I would also like to get some more of those if there are any good ones that I can feed them regularly.

Thank you! :)

White urine isnt such a bad thing. It means they are peeing out the calcium they dont need. Its if its gritty or thick paste you need to cut down calcium. For lettuces i feed sometimes little gem, round lettuce, kale, and a mixed bag from tesco

I use red and green leaf. I have noticed the white pees almost gone after getting rid of romaine. I only give that every once in a while now. Mine love bell peppers too. Cilantro and basil.

My 2 piggies get romaine lettuce everyday, 2-3 leaves depending on the size. They love the fresh romaine lettuce. I also give them herbs daily, cilantro, parsley, basil, and etc. Carrots, kale, and fruits like apple, blueberry, and grapes are given but in little amounts.
They get endless hay, and some Oxbow pallets. My piggies get enough veggies and fruits that they won't need pallets but they have always had pallets so I give them pallets too. I think they like munching on their Oxbow pallets.

Lettuce wise mine have red and green leaf, radicchio, lambs lettuce and frisée. Other leafy vegetables includes mainly spring greens also kale, spinach and carrot tops. Cauliflower and brocolli leaves also go down well. Herbs that I feed are coriander and occasionally parsley. Very rarely do they get any other herb but they do sometimes as a treat. They also get other veggies along with these.
