What is wrong with my piggie?

It might be worth getting your healthy boy and carefully turning him to have a gentle poke around his bottom... my George always has a few poops 'in the bomb-hatch' ready to drop!

Doesn't need much water... I just use a few ml.

If I have to give disgusting syringe medicine I bribe with a sprig of parsley which has quite a strong flavour and is popular. They know when they get the parsley that the syringe part is done.
I have acquired a drop and have mixed it in a bit of water. Now for the disgusting part. Hopefully this will make it easier for him to poop. Will the diarhwa go away with this?

How much water should i use to disolve the poop?

Just a little so the poos are just covered; put all poos he drops into the little dish and syringe as soon as the water is starting to turn brown (i.e. the poos are dissolving and releasing the microbiome). You syringe as much of this as your sick boy will willingly take. Do it twice daily until the poos have normalised. You can also continue with probiotic powder.

I just gave him some bit he had a gag reflex. Should i continue?

It may have gone down the wrong way? Try again with some fresh one later in the evening.
Don't just squeeze the syringe content into the mouth; do it gently and ideally let him suckle from the syringe tip or at the speed he is swallowing.

The problem is he does not want to eat off the siringe, the other piggie loves it and i have to involve him when giving medicine else he starts crying. But i am doing it bit by bit, i may have gone to fast that time, sorry piggie 😣

Try soaking some of their food pellets in warm water to make a thick slurry, then add the poop-soup to this so it goes a bit thinner and you can syringe it. Be careful with pure liquids like water as they can inhale the fluid which is not good for their lungs. Guinea-pigs can't vomit so once it's in there it's not coming back up but they can choke if we are not careful. A very little at a time... even 0.2 - 0.5ml so they can cope.

That sounds terrifying to be honest. He had a couple of gags and then he stopped. He seems completely fine now going about and sleeping. Good thing i used a very small syringe, one that only fits about 1 mil of water in at a time. I hope i didn't cause him pain or any later damage.

Well they normally eat at such a terrific rate that you'd think they could manage anything! He was probably just stopping it going down the wrong way. Look on the bright side... although it's hard when you are worrying about your poorly piggie. Be kind to yourself, you are doing OK and are helping him out whether he realises it or not 💕

Youre right, its so hard not to worry, i am so happy i am off work right now to be able to deal with it. I eill take it easy on myself and hopefully he will get better too. Thank you again, very kind ☺️❤️

I have posted here on the progres of my pig Rick with his pooping problem and lethargy. However he is very cheery, very happy, nibbling on my sleves and since i haven't given him veggies in about two days, absolutely delighted with his veggies today. But unfortunately i had to take him to the vet again. She said she can feel a mass somewhere in his intestine that she never noticed first time, it was the size of a malteser ball and round (about 1.2 cm for non brits). She said she could not really say what it is without an xray. I ofcourse want the xray despite it costing quite a bit, i want to know if he can be helped and i am desperate for the answer to be yes. He has an xray tomorrow morning and i am bawling my eyes out, i cannot believe how it hit me. I believed it was just an upset stomach. Today he was still struggling to poop and the poop was watery and clumped. Today when i took him out he was so happy and so curious about everything and really wanted to nibble on my sweater, it is breaking my heart... Did anyone have a similar experience and how did it go? I am hopeful for him, he is only 5 months old, i want him to have a long and happy life without pain... Fingers crossed its good news tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞Cherish your pigglets, you never know what's around the corner... (Ricky is the white fluffy little boy❤️)

I’m sorry you got those news. Hopefully tomorrow will shed some light on how to move forward.

I’m going to merge this with your other thread as it’s kind of an ongoing and connected problem.

All the best for tomorrow.
