We had the guineas in their run this morning, they were fine. We gave them their health check and they had no problem whatsoever. They love being in the pen so they were having a great time. When they got tired, the one guinea began to lie down and rest. As they are both boys, the other saw his chance and mounted him which is completely normal. When he got off everything seemed fine and they soon were running round again. However, when I picked up the guinea who had been mounted, he had a sticky white goop on his side that was starting to dry. Me and my sister began to check him over and see what it was and it was only on his fur - so it didn't come from him. We then checked Marmite, the piggy who mounted, and he had it on his tummy. It's not coming from their skin as it's only on their fur. We gave them both a bath and it came off. The only thing that we can think of is that it happened while he was mounting because we checked them both over before and there was nothing there. Does anyone know what it is?

I think you will find this is guinea pig 'goop'..... its what happens when guinea pig boys get excited and mount each other !

Sounds like semen or boar glue. Not a big deal, just clean it off so bedding or whatever doesn't stick to it and make their fur dirty.

It is dried semen, which has got its nickname "boar glue" for a very good reason!
