what do i do ?

That’s good.

Please don’t start a new thread each time for this same issue (your new post has been merged with the original one now). As we see many posts in the health section it helps us greatly to have all information on the same issue in the same place. It enables us to look back on previous advice and know the full background.
if you don't like my threads don't comment just leave my threads , I am grateful for your advice but many people want an update....

I think you have completely misunderstood. We absolutely do want updates but we ask all members to keep posts in the health section which relate to the same matter to the same original thread and not start a separate one, as that way we can help much more easily as we have previous advice and information readily to hand. To that end, we have merged the two separate posts you made with the updates back with this current thread to keep it all in the same place.

I think you misunderstood what Piggies&Buns meant. Keeping to the same thread makes sure the advice given is consistent and in line with the ‘issue’. It also makes it easier in that we don’t have to ask you to repeat yourself (I’m sure you don’t want to) because we can’t find the thread with the history on it.

How did you get on at the vet? Hope whatever it is was caught quickly.

how do you do that then?x

Winnie ( the name of my guinea pig) has just come back from the appointment. I couldn't go in with her obviously due to covid. I waited in the car for twenty mins and then they came out with her , they said she has a mild URI . I'm glad I managed to get her In early.they gave me some medication for her , this time they gave me a bottle of this cat medication for her and apparently it works i have to give her a small bit with a syringe each day . they said they couldn't do much but just to give her medication.they also said , as expected, to bring her back in if it gets worse or if she has any breathing problems . and again thanks for all your support x

Yay. glad to hear that. Hopefully as you've caught it soon it'll get better soon. Was she given anything else aside from the cat medicine?

You can pick up previous threads of yours easily via the 'Find Thread/Your threads' option or by via the the search option when you put your username in. Both functions are located by the top bar on the home page. ;)

Unlike social media, we have the option to keep specially monitored threads running over longer spaces of times for any ongoing case in order to personalise the support for better efficiency. But in order to do so and to be able to refer back and refresh our memory, it is important that we keep all information about the same case/piggy to that one thread. The more new threads you start, the more general our advice will become - and that can get confusing and can lead to advice that may not apply to your case or us repeating the same basic information or avenues that have been already ruled out. Next to our forum staff, our fully trusted special Health/Illness contributors (with the badge in the signature) have been enabled to move and merge threads on the same case in order to keep this section running as smoothly as possible and to ensure that every member will get a competent answer as soon as possible from one of us.

Please keep in mind that we are all doing to this for free in our free time on top of a job, our own guinea pigs and/or in some cases fostering for rescues as well, plus what private life we can eke out and that we are looking through lots of different threads whenever one of us comes on. I can assure that a decade down the line and quite literally tens of thousands of enquiries later, your memory kind of turns into a bit of mush, so any help to help you best is most welcome! Especially as it also saves us extra time and hassle, which we have then got to look at more threads. ;)

Thank you.

I think you have misunderstood here, merging threads keeps all the info about one piggy and their illness in one place. @Piggies&buns is one of our expert health and illness advisors, who has admin respinsibilities to merge multiple threads on the same piggy and issue for clarity for other readers. Also just to note, piggies dont get colds- their respiratory illnesses are usually bacterial, requiring prescription antibiotics to treat. The vet may also prescribe a decongestant type medicine. Hope your piggy is ok, but when someone replies to you please note if they are an expert health and illness advisor, or forum staff, in which case if they wish to tidy up multiple threads... well, they can!

Can you post a photo of the medicine bottle or packaging? I tried searching but couldn't find anything on vilavo flamin.

may i ask since whens this your bussiness

are you accusing me of lying?
I don't know if I mistyped, but I don't see me accusing you of anything (see below for what I wrote. I don't see the word 'lying' in there anywhere). I was merely trying to help by finding out if the medicine you were given is what's suggested and good for URIs. If you don't want to post a photo of the packaging then that is fine.

I'm sorry to have to mention it but you seem to take posts the wrong way. There have been two others posters who you responded to in a (I feel) rude manner. If you don't want any advice then that's fine. But you cannot post a (health) question and not expect an answer.

@guineapigs213. I am a staff member. I have deleted your duplicate account which you opened in breach of forum rules. Your posting does not ring true and your attitude to our health and illness team is frankly unacceptable. If your posting comes to my attention again then your account will be banned. Take this as a warning.

are you accusing me of lying?

A quick Google using copy and paste of your post shows no hits at all which indicates that this medicine, in the exact spelling, does not exist. So either you have mistyped or aren't being truthful. A photo of the label so we can see what the medicine is and the dosage would surely clear up any misunderstanding

Lol since I am also one of the health advisors? Forum

Lol love it! Great response. I love a troll who can't spell :) maybe that's why we cant find the medicine in a google search? Its a spelling error? Suitable treatments for URIs include the antibiotics baytril or sulfatrim, sometimes accompanied by the decongestant (mucolytic) bisolvon (bromhexine). In case anyone wanted a bit of genuine guinea pig medical advice as a break from trolling and being rude :)
