Glad that I am not the only one to be annoyed by this. I find it very frustrating that items like this are for sale, either conning first time pet owners (who trust that this is acceptable) into buying expensive useless cages that are cruel, and then having to buy a whole new cage. Or worse owners that don't care or realize how small this is for the animal it is intended for and then the poor guinea pig living its life in a prison. Just looking through amazons more acceptable cages for guinea pigs eg a cage that was 120cm - amazon or the sellers were suggest this was suitable for 3 to 5 rabbits ... whaaaaat really?!?. There needs to be clear cage guidelines for all small pets that are enforced (eg. fines for the sellers breaking them/ giving inappropriate advise), even the RSPCA does not always seem to be clear currently apparently endorsing small cages through p&h. Not really sure how to go forward with wanting to make a difference about this though- have asked the RSPCA directly about cage size recommendations before (in relation to rabbits) and complained about the size of cages they were endorsing, plus the selling of giant rabbits being allowed without home checks, "surprisingly" never heard back. I worry that trying to make a difference to guinea pig suitable cages would go unheard also.. any thoughts?
