Newton has been on his own for a while now since little Olive passed away. He has Neighbours so I wasn’t sure I was going to get him a friend or not as I wanted to slow down with the Guineas and gradually have less once they pass away (in the nicest possible way of course!). But of course I couldn’t help myself by keep looking online at rescues.. But I was a bit worried after my last bonding attempt with Newton going so horribly wrong now causing him to have ongoing dental issue costing a vet bill every 4-6 weeks.
Anyway, My friends Guinea pig lost her last cage mate a few months ago leaving Blossom oh her own. So I of course.. offered to take her on, on the basis that they pay for vet bills.

Blossom had a ‘stroke’ about a year ago. And has had bad mobility in her back legs ever since. They also said she recently lost a lot of hair but it grew back once her mate died..
They bought her around to me last week. I was quite suprised at how she is. Her back end is rather unstable and she walks on tip toes and rather wonky. Her bottom is a little messy, I think mostly as she won’t be able to clean herself. And she also still has hairloss and scabs on her belly. (Unfortunately didn’t notice that until today otherwise would have kept her away from Newton until it was cleared up) She also only weighs a tiny 614grams. Blossom is at least 6 years old.
I’m now thinking she actually had a severe Vit C deficiency and not a stroke. They did rush her to a vet when she was sick but all her issues point to Vit C deficiency..do you think? Anyway I hope I can get her somewhat healthy again.

The best part is Blossom is related to Olive and Opal! (My first 2 piggies, newtons past wives) She is the last one standing out of the 8 pigs me and my friend rescued from an awful horrible ‘home’ about 6 years ago.
And the VERY best part, she does the water dish ‘teeth ding’ling’ that Olive did, a noise I’ve been missing soooo much since she passed away (they ding their teeth 3xs on the side on the bowl after a few sips of water) so when I heard Bloss doing it yesterday it made me so happy!
She reminds me of a perfect mixture of both Olive and Opal which is lovely, and she’s just as petite as them.

I’ve mite treated her today and she seems to be getting on well with Newton, I was worried he would be too much for such a delicate fragile little piggie. But so far he’s been behaved, so fingers crossed he will learn she’s not up for much and to be gentle with her. He seems happy to have a little wiflet again, And Blossom seems quite chuffed too.
