Water bottles; best way to secure them?

Hi,

This may seem a bit silly, but does anyone know the best way to secure your water bottles to the cage bars? I just have those white coated wire things that come with the bottles and i can never get the spout at the right angle in the cage. The wire pulls the bottles too close and then the spout doesn't protrude into the hutch enough. My piggies can get to the water, but it's definitely not as far into the cage as it should be, so it must be harder for them to drink.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is there a better type of fitting for securing bottles and if so, where can you get them from?

What type of bottle do you have?

Thanks Amanda, those look great! Do they work well and can you secure the bottle anywhere or does it have to be "resting" on a rung? My new hutch has one rung which makes the bottle too low, and the other makes it a bit high!

I just have the standard plastic bottles with metal spout.

I've got what Amanda has plus a little hanger than goes a bit lower down on the cage and supports the bottle just above the spout, means it doesn't fall out of the main support in the link above.

To be honest you could probably bend a bit of wire to support it in this way just as well.

I have tried some wire today, but it doesn't look too secure. I've just ordered the springy ones from e-bay :)

I use the bottle springs like Salt n Peppers mum, they do the trick. They'll go round bigger bottles as well.
 
Thanks everyone, hopefully my new springy ones will arrive soon!

It wasn't a problem in the C+C as i could attach the bottle anywhere, but their new hutch is proving more tricky!

I just use the plastic ties that you can get at any garden center hope that helps!

I've just got the Classic Bunny Bottles for my pigs. When I first had piggies they refused to drink from the Bunny Bottles so I had to buy two hamster sized bottles and refill them about three times a day! Luckily they are drinking from the Bunny Bottle now so I just use that and the two hamster bottles.

I do have the metal clips they come with, but they are pretty useless. Instead I secure the top of the bottle to the cage with string (out of their reach) and the bottom I use the metal clips just to rest the spout of the bottle on. This works out at a perfect height for the pigs, plus it doesn't leak. It also means that because the bottle is resting on the wire, it prevents it from hanging down on the correx and denting it :)

Also - I put my bottles on the inside of the C&C cage otherwise the spout doesn't reach far enough. I've thought about glass bottles but knowing me, when washing them I'd probably drop them :red...
I've already managed to smash one of their nice carrot bowls but the pigs don't mind because I managed to piece it back together! Yay!
