Help !

I have run out of Vitamin C tablets. I ordered some Oxbow Vitamin C tablets last week and have picked the parcel up this morning only to find they have set the wrong item. It took a week for this parcel to come so it is looking likely that it will be another week before I get this rectified .

The reason I give Vit C tablets is that one of my guinea pigs (Max) doesn't eat a lot of Vit C rich veggies. He has recently had vetinary treatment for an abscess so I want to make sure I do as much as possible to keep his Vit C levels up.

Does anyone know any hooman Vit C tablets that guineas can take ? I have a tablet cutter so am happy to cut them up to make sure he has a guinea dose rather than hooman dose.

I am tagging @Wiebke as I think she has advised someone on this previously.

I hope you get this sorted out with Max.

Thank you - I bought from Amazon & have contacted seller who has asked me to return incorrect tablets which they will replace / refund. That'll take some time, so I don't know what they are expecting me ot do in the meantime.

Bizarrly, I have an Amazon Prime account and when I logged backinto Amazon, I was able to order a Prime delivery for tomorrow - at a cheaper price too. I don't know why this didn't come up on my previous log in .

At least I'll be getting my Max's vit C tablets.

Would still like to know what brands of hooman vit C tablets are OK for guineas if anyone has any ideas.

No chewable human vitamin C tablets are any good, in my view, as they will either be full of sugar or, more usually, artificial sweeteners.

I've used the Cherry C acerola capsules (which you break up and put in water to syringe in - it's hard to work out the dosage, so not ideal). http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-pure-vitamin-c-powder-2500mg-60003160 I had a piggy on this for quite a while, and it really helped her bladder.

You can do the same with plain ascorbic acid powder, which you can get from Holland and Barrett http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-pure-vitamin-c-powder-2500mg-60003160

Thank you for the info

It may sound daft, but make sure it's just vitamin c (not vitamin c plus zinc, for example). I've made this mistake when buying for myself (but that's probably just me!)
