Vitamin C deficiency?

I’ve just got two older sows (about 6 years old) who have terrible looking coat and bad skin. I asked the rescue and they said it was just because they were very old but I’m not convinced.
They were never given veggies for the time they were at the rescue and lived of pellets and some hay.
I don’t think they had enough vitamin c in their diet and I’m slowly introducing some veggies to them but I’m starting to second guess myself on the vitamin c deficiency.

Some advice on what it might be would be very welcome!

Symptoms of Vit C defiency being weak, not being able to walk, bleeding, rough coat.
If they’ve not had a good diet then It is a possibility but also just generally not having a good diet won’t have done them any favours.
I would get them to a cavy savvy vet for a full health check, and then as you are doing, getting them onto a better diet. Hay should be the most part of their diet 85%, about 10% veggies, then one tablespoon of pellets a day.

Hi thanks loads.
Unfortunately where I live we have no vets with much knowledge of guinea pigs. I did take them to the vets a few weeks ago (forgot to say oops) and they prescribed some anti parisite medication but they have had no improvement :(

I’ll probably continue improving their diet and hope they look better soon. Thank you again.
