So sorry to hear this Huge hugs to you and little Eddie. If babies are a good weight (330g ish) I would seperate just incase it is over grooming by mum. I have had to sepertae babies as early as 2. weeks before and they have been fine gave them goats milk to suppliment their usual diet.
Good luck O0

I hope you have good luck at the vet, is there an emergency one that can help you tonight?

No idea on baby weights, sorry :-\

330g was a typo ::) sorry should be 300g but that is a good weight. the baby boys that came from auction were 180g and did ok but your bubbies are very small to be seperated :( could you allow them acces sto mum for milk but jkeep them away some of the time just in case it is mum causing the problem, they will need to feed every two hours, probably best to leave them until you can go to the vets in them moring if calling them out now is not an option. If it was me I would sepertae and let them have supervised feeds through the night til I could eget to the vets in the morning
Good luckx

Well I have took the houses away for now and am just letting them cuddle up where I can see them. I have changed them onto fleece incase the megazorb and hay was irritating it as well as looks so painful. She is eating and drinking ok and doesn't seem to be in much pain is just holding her bum up a bit. Vikki do you no how they treat it?
I am also skint so hubby will give me the money folr it but how much do you think I will need to take.
With paying out so much on them in the past 2 months over £400 alone in just vet bills I hadn't accounted for anymore. My poor piggies when will they get a break! :'(

am so sorry for you :'( :'( :'( really hope your little girl gets better sending hugs and healing vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: know what you mean about vets, there was zoe, then the cats and now missy think in last 4 months have spent over $2,000.00 (about 1,000 pounds) in vet bills, but they are worth it. O0 will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well with your little one. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: perhaps have a look on guinealynx and see how they treat for prolapse, good luck. :-* :-* :-*

With prolapse they try andget the tissue back in and to stay there, it is expelled as a result of straining too hard. This can be done mually but as i t keeps popping in and out I am not sure what they will do to be honest have never had a piggy with a prolapse of this kind before.
Sometimes anti biotics, numbing the area and using a soft diet opinion amd articles on the internet vary best not to scare yourself reading them as you do not know exactly what is wrong yet and many articles are not cavy specific and treatment will vary.
As the vet has not seen it (as i beleve it was back in when the little one went last) it still may not be a prolapse best to get a qualified vet to loks at her/him.
Big hugs to you Iknwo the feeling that some guineas just are never well! Bihg hugs and fingers crossd for you all today

Well eddie is being operated on as I speak! :'(

The vet tried to pop it back in manually but it was to swollen so she said it will need a few stiches to keep it in place.

Now i have a problem tho, she said if eddie herself doen't nibble ythem out Pippin most certainly will :-\ So What do I do?

I am gonna try putting eddie on her own tonight as give them 24hours to take but get her and Pippin every few hours out on my lap for feeding.

Does that sound ok? Whay are things never simple?!?! ::)

Aww, poor little guy. I;ve not had a pig who's had stiches yet, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help and give some hints :)

Was it actually a prolapse then?

I'm no help either but can offer you our love and piggie healing wheeks for Eddie :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Big ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) for you too i'm sure you're very very upset :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
all paws crossed O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

All of mine now barr smudge have had stiches ::)

I'm gonna be a pro by the time this is over!

Yes it was a prolapse I could tell this morning as about 2cm of her intestine was hanging out :'(

I hope i have enough money to cover the op! :embarassed:

Oh poor little Eddie! At least you have got it seen to :) Good luck with the operation and the stiches! O0

NEED HELP: Eddie had it pushed right up and stiches to keep it in place. He had nibbled the stiches out as soon as he came round. :'(

The vet gave him a shot of baytril to help and also put numbing cream on it to ease the pain. They closed at 12 and she said as she had pushed it right back up it hopefully should stay in place but just checked and i can see it slipping down again :'(

It is right there in the opening, I don't no what else to do, she said as he is under weight putting a collar on him would affect him eating and she said he would most prob doe of that. So what next I'm running out of ideas but I'll be damned if I let another piggie die so please anyone with any ideas or experience with proplapsed rectum let me no. I'm pulling my hair out!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes x

hope eddie is ok eventually....

definately phone a vet, and i would probably have a collar put on, even though pigs need to eat their own poops etc, if it gives a chance for the prolapse to be reversed, i would do almost anything.
maybe take the collar off for supervised time, so you know he's not eating the stitches. he'll need a lot of supervised time with the collar off! and take it off to give him veggies etc, the distraction of food might stop him nibbling.
thinking of you and eddie x

Ok so I have just got back from the emergency vet's, they have said they do not think there is a need to operate again on it. They have gave me some lubricant to use and when it pop's out I have to pop it back in. If it wont go back in and is sticky I have to take her back. ::)
I have put loads pf veggies in her cage and fresh grass to try and make her stools as soft as possible for her. The vet was really nice and seemed to think her being so small maybe the issue and she will grow out of it when she starts puytting weight on.
So now my question is :D what will help her put on weight? I am gonna start giving critical care again twice a day and keeping the cage topped up with loads of fresh veggies but anything else? Obviously hay as well x

Just be careful with the grass. While you don't want it to push out again the last thing you need is a poorly piggy with diarrhoea! The critical care is a good idea if she's not eating as well as you'd like.

I have no experience of a prolapse but am sending you both lots of love and best wishes xx

Yeah dsl thats what i thought but thats what the vet adviced. ::)
I have not took the dry food away either which they told me to fingers crossed it can correct itself. xx

hoping thing improve for eddie and you get a respite from going to a vet :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you are doing a wonderful job and just keep doing what you are doing O0 i agree with the statement why do these things happen on a weekend or in the wee hours of the morning :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: sending hugs and healing vibes to you both :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
