Trials Of Keeping A White Piggy Clean

Really, I love Radish (Himi), but if I ever get anymore piggies after him and Chutney, then I will not be choosing a white guinea pig!

When he's had enough of eating grass, he'll usually go lie in the hay lined igloo that's provided. That's fine and all, but he scrapes the hay aside sometimes, and that means that when he emerges after a few hours, he'll have a nice yellow stain on his side. Or belly. And that means facing the dreaded bath. Which is a battle in its own right!

Having not owned a fully white piggy before meant that I had no idea what a challenge it would be to keep him clean.

Anybody else have trouble keeping their white piggies clean? Or solutions?
 
I have a white and agouti piggy, mostly white and I must admit she stays very clean. I work hard to spot clean every day when I get home though to there are no wet patches to stain etc. She gets her feet a bit green from running around on the grass in the run though lol

I also spot clean their cage every day. So no dirty stain there! I swear, he gets stained as if by magic sometimes.

I have that trouble with my himi too. I gave up in the end. He gets a bath when he smells but if he gets a stain, he sorts it out himself or I'll attack with the pet wipes :)
 
Oh dear, I wasn't saying you didn't keep him clean, sorry if that came across wrongly!

I think sometimes they just find things to get messy on lol

Yeah, most of the time I just leave him to sort it out, since there's no point in stressing him out with a bath everytime he gets dirty.

Do you have pet wipes? They save the pigs from a load of baths. They don't like it much, but it's a lot quicker and they get cuddles and extra veg after :)

No, no, that came across fine! I apologise if it seemed I was telling you off. I honestly didn't mean it to appear like that.

But yes, I think you might be onto something there!

I don't, no. Might consider shelling out for some though! Where'd you get them from?
 
Wonder if it's a boar thing? I'm getting sows next time! I kid, I love my boys...even their oddities and smells.

No worries, got our wires crossed lol.

I think my mainly white piggy is actually the cleanest of the 4 lol :)
