Can they eat the cardboard? I want to give Chez a toilet paper roll filled with hay, should this be under supervision? What if he eats the whole thing? I think he'd like it as he loves his willow ball stuffed with hay.

What you should do for safety purposes is cut it open lengthways so they cannot risk getting their heads in the tube .

Mine love to roll them around, pick them up and throw them and fit them into beds and houses. They are kept amused for ages by cardboard rolls. They do chew them and eat bits but they last for days if not weeks, they don't eat a whole one at once.

Chez nibbled at it a little, and yes, he did put his head in it so good thing it was cut.
Then I put it in Stripe's cage, he's my toy boy. But he is currently ignoring it!
My boys prefer expensive toys lol!

I use toilet paper rolls all the time. My girls like it when I stuff them with pea flakes inside the hay.
