Thinking Of Changing To Fleece!

I get it from Jolleyes pet superstore in St Helens, lancashire. They do online too. It's sold in pets at home too. It's expensive yes, but i feel it's totally worth it. Pets at home is £18 for a 30ltr bag.

Loving this thread. Changed Spike and Peanut over to fleece on Tuesday with litter tray in Spikes toilet corner filled with some of the left over shavings, he promptly went to sleep in it. Got up yesterday morning to discover Spike lying in a very wet litter tray, his fur was damp and so they had their first bath, something I'd been putting off. Peanut hid for the rest of the day, I think he has just about forgiven Spike. Litter tray has been removed from cage while I rethink it, got puppy pads and newspaper under fleece and changing the wet papers twice a day. At least newspaper can go in the compost heap or the recycling!
So much for keeping hay in a basket so as not to have too much sticking in the fleece, they've emptied it all over the cage and stomped it well in, that's my messy boys for you! Never mind I just love them they keep us entertained.

I ordered back to nature bedding (£9.50 for 30 litres on amazon) after it was recommended on here and so far I'm loving it- I have newspaper lining the cage, then a towel then fleece; a tray under the hay rack, a tray under a wooden roll hut, and a corner tray with a blanket pegged over. I've got back to nature in the 3 trays. My 2 wee ALOT where they sleep and I did have sawdust and cosi n'dry in them which was getting sodden and was messy- I didn't have to change the fleece for a week tho, just changed the trays everyday. It's a bit of trial and error but at the moment the back to nature seems a good choice!

On another note, I have never seen my guinea pigs sleeping! I've had them about 6 weeks!

Sorry £11.29 for 30 ltr bag x

I use fleece for my 6 boars. a pair of boys on each level of guinea wharf, which is the 3 storey hand built home system my boys live in, within their own bedroom. Fleece on top of towels for absorbency, cat litter trays with hay in. I poop scoop twice a day and change /clean down Wednesday and Sunday. my guys love the feel of fleece, even elderly Elvis will do a popcorning pirouette on a fresh fleece. Washing machine does overtime but no different really to when my human boys were living at home - lol !

I use fleece. I made my own quilts from a layer of fleece, a layer of 6oz polyester wadding and a water-proof material on the back. I have a large tray with Fitch bedding and hay in it, and to be honest they do the vast majority of their wees in that. I spot clean both the fleece and the Fitch each day and change the hay.

I have my 2 on fitch bedding which is great stuff, but our c&c cage is 2 x 6 (split in the middle as they have a love hate relationship!) & I'm finding we get through a fair bit of bedding & keeping a 20k bag under the table takes up a quite a bit of space, so was thinking of using fleece. Keen to get the liners, but after reading one of the US websites, they use something called u haul pads under their fleece, which looks to me like the blankets used for removals. Anyone used this?

I use fleece. I have puppy pads at the bottom then double layer of towels, then vet bed layer (so it's nice and soft to lie on), then a layer of fleece, and then I put a hay pile on a towel with their hidey houses on top. They also have a cuddle cup to lie in if they want to.

Every day I change the towel with the hay on, I just roll it up and empty the hay into the wheelie bin, shake the towel of stray bits of hay and throw it in the washer. Fresh towel and fresh hay.

Then I change the fleece etc about every four days.

Nope i don't use it since i don't currently own any piggies and i don't live in the US but I'm pretty sure they are the blankets used for removal :) A few sites say they're really good but a lot say they disintegrate in the wash so i wouldn't purchase, just to be on the safe side.
