The Ruby Thread by The Boring Big Slave

Super story today, I love re-reading the ones I saw at the time you posted, but also good to have links back to things that happened before I joined the Forum. I hope Ruby's special slave did indeed 'bond' well with her class on that trip and not employ any piggy tactics!

Aw Ollie and Hatty are totally getting that vibe, they are trying to fall in love so why does the hooman always have online work meetings in their room? Can't she sod off outside for a few hours and preferably return via the superior lettuce section of M&S Simply Food in the station where she always gets lettuce we dont need just because it sounds exciting and costs £5 a bag? Less zoom more Lollo Rosso Italiana :)

Ha! What a buzz kill for them both!

Working from home is such a laugh with pigs. The number of times I had to quickly mute my Zoom calls because Betty (who was sitting TWO rooms away with BOTH doors closed) decided that was the exact time to start shrieking for food at the top of her voice. Or lockdown facetimes in the same room as the pigs, where they hear people laughing down the phone, run out excitedly and and start shouting their heads off, knowing full well we'd chuck some food at them just to hear ourselves think. I wonder how many piggies got a little bit fatter and cheekier during lockdown!

Food always sounds more interesting in Italian. Wouldn't you rather have Cavolo Nero than black kale? 🤫 Whether you are a guinea pig or a human...

Thank you, I needed that laugh this morning. How long did Ruby’s new friend survive?!

Actually Ruby seemed to quite like Coconut and would push her around the cage with her nose, so we left the pair of them together for quite a while. :D
I loved explaining that when people came over to visit...

It has been a while, but @Betsy recently requested a photo of Ruby.
So I was going through some old photos (there are a lot) and came across this video.
It was such typical Ruby behaviour - wandering around her cage and making noise for no reason at all.
That guinea pig was just permanently thrilled with herself.

Pointless wheeking by Ruby

true story -
I was listening to this via earphones and having a good laugh to myself about it, then I took my earphones out and stood up, and as soon as my chair made that "human standing up" noise, Cam started shrieking at me from the next room. It's like he knew.

(then when I tossed some lettuce in he ran right into the firing line and was wearing a lettuce hat-slash-facemask for a bit.)

Awww... we all miss Ruby being a diva!
Luna says there is no such thing as pointless wheeking, wheeking is always very profound and often signals some distessing and neglectful dereliction of duties by the household staff.
Luna now being 7 years old and living in an 11x2 palace, she has taken to wheeking "its too bloody far away at my time of life!" and wheeking to be carried from one end of the cage to the other, often when the central heating comes on at 2am she requires emergency transportation to her favourite spot near the radiator!
