Taking my Guinea Pig out with me

I have never taken one of my piggies out with me. Though i have thought wouldn't it be fun and weird if i could take one of my piggies to the supermarket or cinema with me :)) but i think you'd get some strange stares but if you really want to take him out with you then put him in a pet carrier or carry him but i think it's best to wrap him up in a blanket so that he feels safe and warm. But overall it's not really a good idea to take piggies out with you no matter how much you love them

Hahaa:)) I really wanted to do that when furbie died and bubbleberry was on her own but never had the guts to actually do it lol!

When I was little I used to have a pig in my pocket while I was in the garden or at home... thinking about it now, probably wasn't the best idea! rolleyes

The animal welfare act states that social animals, like piggies, rats, chinchillas, basically any small animal that lives in groups in the wild (And larger animals, I'm sure) need to be kept in social groups. (Where appropriate)

The act also says that the animals need to be allowed to exhibit natural behaviour patterns. Many argue that this should include being able to socialise with their own kind. Like piggies are much happier in groups, becuase then they can talk their own language. :)

We should draw this fact to the attention of all the pet shops that sell single rodents telling the customer that they are fine on their own and then proceed to sell them cages that are far too small!mallethead

When in fact they shouldn't be selling them at all because in general they know diddly squat about any animal.

Once upon a time - When my Aunty first became manager of P@H (well Petsmart (Do you remember that!)) well all staff had to travel to London, Birmingham, Bristol or whatever and carry out days training.

Now - Well anyone can get hired.
They sold my 10 year old brother one of those plastic cages with the green lid ment for like snails or whatever for his hamster. I went mad and made them swap it for a normal one free of charge :P

Other then that their animals always look well looked after.

I absolutely hate how they keep the hamsters and rats in those little cages - it's so cruel.:... If they can make bigger spaces for the guinea pigs and rabbits why can't they do it for the hamsters too.:(

The one in Reading is quite good, they do have the small cages but they also have Huge rat cages around the shop...

I feel sorry for the Chinchillas in those tiny wired cages.

The ones in our pets at home are in like little glass tanks about a foot long with about 4 or more hamsters in. :... The rats are kept the same way.:(

Same, but they also have bigger cages with the dumbo rats in.

If alot of customers complain to head office they will change the cages....
Maybe that should be the next project for us all!
