Swollen bottom?

I’ve usually left a dish in the cage as an extra to syringe feeding not a replacement.
Hope he begins to regain weight soon.
Caring for a post op piggy can be tiring and worrying so look after yourself too.

Thank you, I'm trying to. I think I might be monitoring him too closely and worrying about tiny things. Comparing his behaviour to my other piggy he doesn't seem much different really. He's back to his old self now
This was him and Eddie scoffing down grass. He was eating just as enthusiastically as normal.

How much weight loss in a day is normal? Yesterday he lost 18 grams yesterday and another 23 grams today. I've never had to weigh either of them everyday and I've realised I'm worrying about him losing weight but I don't actually know if 20 grams is enough to worry about.

20 gms is nothing to worry about. All piggies jump up and down 20 gms or so if you weigh them daily, it can be the difference of a full tummy or full bladder. But if the trend is towards loosing 20 gms each day then it shows he is not eating enough and at some point he will become very thin.
Keep up with the top ups for today

Thank you that makes me feel a bit better. I'll keep going for now like you say.

I typed this yesterday but I forgot to post it so I haven't weighed him today. I'll do it very soon and then I'll see if he's gone down or not.

Elvis has gained 25 grams today. There's only a 15 grams difference between today and the morning of his operation so I don't think I need to worry too much about his weight anymore. I'll keep monitoring him and weighing him daily for the moment though.
Aw that’s great news! weigh him daily and keep monitoring what he eats for a little while, well done you for all the care you have given him x

I gave him a feed this morning since I'd made it before I weighed him and j haven't given him any more today. I've been monitoring him and be seems to be eating normally as he's definitely his happy cheeky self. He was wheeking for food and popcorning when they were out for floortime!
Thank for all the advice and support everyone here has given me xx

Good news! Elvis has been maintaining his weight without the need of any more critical care. He's completely back to normal now, you'd never know he'd had an operation less than a week ago! 😂
Thank you so much for all the help everyone has given me xx

What a grand job you’ve done. Pat yourself on the back and give him a cuddle too

I definitely will. We're going to have so many cuddles once he's done his last few days of antibiotics. 😊 Only 2 days to go!

Today Elvis has been back to the vets for hopefully the last time in a long time! The vet wanted to see how he's been getting on and she says he's recovered brilliantly, there's no swelling or anything around the stitches and he's as happy as he's always been. After about 6 weeks of medicine he FINALLY doesn't need to have it anymore! 😃😃😃😃 He can enjoy his little piggy life without having horrible stuff shoved in his mouth! Hopefully we will never need to know what the strange small hole in his abdomen is either but should anything happen and the abscess comes back we will know why and obviously we will go straight back to the vets.
I'm sooo glad it's finally done!
Again, thank you for all the support and help and advice everyone here has given me ❤️

Elvis says thank you from the wierd den he made in the carrier on the journey back. Apparently that's how he's celebrating. He such a wierdo but I love him 😂😍
