Is it safe to feed a sliced, raw, sweet potato to a guinea pig? I know regular potatoes can cause bloat.

Sweet potatoes are fine, have found mine aren't all that keen on the regular orange kind but love the purple ones! Alas they don’t get much of these as the humans love them too much to sacrifice more than the nubby ends and a slice or two!

Regular potatos are poisonous as are part of the nightshade family and should NEVER be fed

Sweet Potato is an entirely different veg and fine

My two prefer the peel off the sweet potato but will eat a small chunk occasionally. They actually prefer the peel of any veg to the actual veg, the other night they had swede peel and they hate swede.

Hahaha. Discovered this. Freddie "frilled" the slice I gave him - ie. he ate the rind and left the inner part!

Sweet potato are not related to potato. You can feed them safely, but please do not feed daily. Any root veg should not be part of a daily diet.
