Sweep And Honor

thanks. He has had a blood test to double check but he is now on anti inflamatory meds for his hips. He has managed to eat when i held his bowl up for him and managed a walk before the vets where he had a huggggge wee lol bless him.
but he is not wanting to go outside for a wee ...so put some puppy pads out for him. He sat on the back of the car next to me and he is now on the floor. But his legs are very stiff. He's on high dose for 3days and then one tablet daily after and review in a week or two and see how he is doing.
The blood results will be back this afternoon just to be safe...but the vet is pretty sure its just his hips bless him.
 
It seems like they are going to be cage mates but if they don't really seem to want to get along anymore what I did when I was introducing honey to Gizi I put then in the others cage so basically they sort of did a cage swap... This was to get the others scent on their stuff so 1. I don't have to wash every single thing and can leave things like toys etc.. 2. So they get used to eachother smell... This is also a great way to just get them used to eachother :)
 
Thanks @Gizi , they have been swapping beds and toys before i mixed them as u say to get used to each other scent.

Well they have been together nearly 24hours now. They are happy enough on the floor, Honor is still a little moody and chases Sweep now and then.
Tonight i will possibly clean their cage and will put them in with minimal beds eg tunnels and cuddle cups. But i may leave on the floor another evening...will see.
Today has been a stressful day with my doggy being poorly, so hopefully the piggies will continue getting better with each other and give me a break lol .
 
It all sounds pretty positive to me! Hopefully they'll fully settle down and get used to each other's ways soon.

Sorry to hear about your doglet, hope he gets better soon!

well slight hitch but i had to put a divider in the cage as Sweep sent 2hours trying to "mount" Honor non stop...squeaking the house down during the night as he cased her and no one could sleep! So they are now divided in the cage again...until i get back from my grandmas at lunchtime. Will then re bond again if i can on the floor.
Honor is much happier since...but sweep cant stop chewing the bars. I have to go out foe a few hours but am mixed as i dunno what to do or that i should have done for the best. Honor seemed very distressed by his advances last night as it was non stop. .am so mixed on what to do :-(

Well Are they sows? If so they could be in season? I know mine are now :P And yes you can re bond them :)
 
sweep is a neutered male and honor is a sow. Have no idea if she is in season as she never acts any diffrent in season to off season lol.
thanks...i think he needs a cooling off period this morning and honor needs a little break and sleep.
 
Just let them both back in together, and she has chased him off once and he has tried to mount her again....why is it never simple. I wish they both were not so stubborn! He just seems obsessed with her and she seems to just want him to shove off...
 
Nope not yet. He is still "trying it on" with her...silly boy. I know its all normal i guess....but he's just constantly wanting to mount her when he goes bear her....she squeaks away and then nips him.
one moment its calm...then its not.
complete difference to yesterday when she was being dominant...
 
Oh dear! Randy little so and so! It seems like they just need to respect each other's boundaries more. Hope you can get them to settle! Does señor humpy have anything else he can turn his attentions to?
 
I think it will settle down eventually. Barley was the same with Ellie and it was only when she pee'd in his face that he got the hint.
 
thanks. I have tried distracting him....but he just is obsessed. He is better during the day....but 5am-10am seems to be his time for relentless trying it on....its crazy. Honor seems much less dominant at the moment....she just sits with her back against the wall or in her cozie he didn't attempt anything. I have hay/ water/ food in two diff locations....but he keeps eating/ drinking by her. He is currently laid down in a hay pile by her watching her.

thanks. They are sat inches from each other atm eating hay...no problem. Until he humps her ...she squeaks and runs to a corner and then a mome later they ate together eating again...madness.
 
well its happened again after a great few weeks. After a constant 5hours of sweep trying to mount Honor and her squeeling....i have put Honor in a makeshift pen do she can get some sleep. I have had no sleep the last 5hours and I am shattered :-(.
I am so annoyed. He has been so much calmer the last 2 weeks or so...thry have even been sleeping next to each other and grooming one and other...but she was very distressed and so is my house! Woke me and my sister up...
another reason I seperated again so she can rest as over night since he has started humping her madley again her chest is sounding laboured- something she gets when she gets stressed due to her heart.
hopefully it will ease up again like last time.
I just feel so frustrated as its crazy. He was doing the odd hump during the day...but he eased off...but as the evening went on it was constant again...i managed to fall asleep at 11.30 only to be woken at 12ish and every 10mins or so after that.
I just dunno what to do for the best....
 
Well after a few hours appart and a few hours sleep for Honor (I have not been so lucky) Honor and Sweep are back in together and after 2 attempts to hump her, they are sat and eating hay lying next to one and other.
All i need now is to get an early night for myself...i am shattered after not being able to fall asleep...
I dont know why her seasons are so strong to him... do they die down with age? Honor is nearly 5 years old and Sweep we dont know how old he is , but he is at least 3 suspected.
