Fellow survivors,

live from the bonding pen! Me Kongo is a bit wild. Slave saw me Rumble strutt for the first time in this 1,5years I lived here. Joe is more like a nonchalant big brother. I'm just a bit bigger - like 500g bigger - but Joe is clearly the alfa. He zooms and popcorns away from me and I come after in a beautiful Rumble strutt. Slave is very positive we will survive this as companions! Joe tells me when its time to chill, eat a bit and lay down for a nap. I listen like a good little brother. I'm just gonna hump him for real before I fullt accept him as the real alfa...

Love from Kongo and Joe
I love that 1300g Joe looks small 😍

Like my dad said when he got Joe in his arms after holding Kongo;
- are you sure its a pig in this blanket?

We passed all the first steps - strutting, mounting, humping, teeth chattering, washing, eating, sleeping, popcorn, zoom, eat a bit more, lick ears... Now its time to go home to the new cage. I'm still nervous. Kongo is a tricky one. But I will survive!

Good morning survivors,
this is how you look when you survived the first steps of bonding (and slave takes a picture while your chewing). Kongo really is a journey of his own. Wow. When I bonded with Chip it was soooo easy to tell him I'm the alfa and he just accepted. Kongo is a handful, like a very very big teenbaby. But slave knows me very well, and can already tell I'm happier this morning than yesterday before bonding. I dont need to be best friends, but I clearly want to have another pig close. My bond with Bob was unique, but we were babies when we met.

I'm amazed with the fact that Kongo can sleep anywhere. I want a house. Kongo just falls asleep everywhere. Strange pig.

Love from Joe, survivor of 2024

Well done Joe and Kongo, here's hoping for compatible cage sharing ❤️ Poor Mom, retail must be a hectic place to work at this time of the year. Only a few days and things will go back to normal. January should be quiet. You look very happy having fun in the hay 🐾

Mom's listening to us munch before her Christmas eve shift.

Every 12 bags of hay is free at the pet store, and next bag will be free.

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas from the cookie boys (our new nickname)!

Merry Christmas survivors!

Yesterday I just couldnt take it anymore. Slaves did rearrange our palace and I found the one cube they forgot those zipties and... Bam! I was out. All the guests was cheering my way to the Christmas three! I had to make some gymnastics but it was so worth it. Wow! I was so mad when slave told me to go home.

Me and Joe are still in the sensitive zone and trying to figure things out in our relationship. I clearly try to dominante Joe but he says he is the king... Slave hopes we can sort this out without fights, but calls me a problem when I dance my Rumble...

Male-slave gave us new cuddle sacs for Christmas! I tried to sleep in it but I think it must be made for hamsters? I sleep on it instead. Very comfy! Joe fits in it, but right now I think he is a hamster.

Merry christmas from Kongo, survivor of making his way to the Christmas three (and Joe, the christmas-hamster)

Merry Christmas! We're eating our cookies and the cat is meowing because he didn't get lap time.

Of course, mom's a little worried about Chez because he didn't beg or eat his lettuce. Looks like he's going on the scale. But he ate a cookie!

Hoping, praying I can end my antibiotics tomorrow. Mom has to be at work at 7 tomorrow to open the bookstore and then at 4 I go to the vet.

Hope the cat settles soon so mom can give me my meds on time.

Well, it's back to the grind for mom. She had to get up at 4:30 to make it to work at 7. But we got up, too. I had my meds.

Mom works 5 hours then she is going to take an hour nap and then bring me for my X-ray!

We'll see how my weight is without critical care for two days.

Chez is acting totally normal. He must've been spooked yesterday.

Grandpa loved the cashmere sweater she sent to California.

Good luck to you sir Stripe! Joe will have a carrot for you, and Kongo a small crunch of a Oreo vanilla (this is capturing. I cant have my favorite cookie without my giant pig getting crazymad if he doesn't get a little piece. Sometimes I eat my cookies in the elevator but when I open the door to our apartment he can feel the smell. And I'm doomed. Maybe I'm the one in need for a survivor-thread? "Life with a Kongo - how to survive").

Those Oreo Vanillas sound really nice. Are they as good as Metacam?

Hi Survivors

X-rays done. No change in calcification but no worse. Vet lady said it is hard to know when to stop the antibiotics so two more weeks of baytril. Then observe.

Chez wheeked when I got home! Now Mom's got the cat on her lap.

Vet lady said possibly continue critical care, too.

I guess I have a syndrome. 😥 Hope to be healthy for a long time.

Kongos recipe for "A survivors Dream Cookies;
Make your slave got out and buy the cookies
Take some metacam in a bowl
Mash some cookies and put them in the metacam
Let the mashed cookies soak in metacam
Eat until you hit a very big sugar-metacam-rush

Right now Kongo is angry. We had to put the divider un again yesterday because he was not very nice. The first days worked out just fine, then mister Kongo started to act like bully. Joe didnt want to leave his house. Its a repeat of how he acted when we tried to bond him with Chip. We dont know much (anything) about his past, the adoptioncenter told us he had a friend that died but we start to think he was a loner in his old family. He just doesn't speak Guinea pig? Its not only the bullypart, its like the whole appearance in the contact with other pigs.

Well, its a bit tense when they meet at the divider right now. But they do meet and I think thats a good sign that they will sort this out as neighbours. Joe is definitely a happy survivor right now!

The bully stole a towel from the roof and was making himself comfy

Hi guys I was bad after meds. I took them then half of my critical care but decided to head butt mom because I didn't want pets then tried to escape my snuggle sack. So I only got 5 ml in. There's lots of furniture and not a lot of room for humans to walk around so if I escape it'll be quite an ordeal. Sooo she gave up.

Mom is going grocery shopping then cleaning our cages. Lucky me, I don't get a health check! She had vet lady flip me over yesterday. One poop in my anal sack.

Sooo two more weeks of baytril.

Oh dear, sorry it didn't work out for Kongo and Joe. Stripe having a bad meds day 🙁 Hope things get better soon ❤️

Sorry you had to be separated. But it can be a happy life. Me and Chez are separated but we're happy as clams!
Kongo is just mad because his cage is smaller again. It doesn't really look that way, but he is a very active little capybara. When the Christmas three is out we will try to re-arrange the cage again. Joe is in his golden years and its ok for him to high maintenance and treated like a king 😂 neighbours are nice!

Hi Survivors,

Less than two weeks of baytril. Let's all hope I don't relapse. I'll have been on antibiotics two months, so let's pray I don't get another ear infection! Good news, when I'm done I don't have to go for a recheck, slave just has to observe me and keep in touch with the vet lady.

I had a nail trim!

Mom's singing a little song, yooz a metacam baby. She sings us songs, she says it's one of the perks of living alone!

Late shift tonight, so meds at 11pm.

Yes, I just popcorned!

Survivors, we want to wish you all a very happy new year! Paws up for getting alot of metacam, without any sickness.

Joe has had an crappy 2024 with sickness and that horrible tooth. In 2025 he will eat soooo much hay! No more GAs. He lost his oxygen and best friend Bob and just when the bromance with Chip really started to form he lost Chip. Joe wish for less drama in 2025, he turns 5 in February and just want to enjoy his golden years. It looks like him and Kongo are working things out as neighbours, they are often at the divider at the same time and just eats some hay in peace. The first two days Joe was running the other way when Kongo came to close. Thats a very big compadre, Joe says.

Kongo started this year with a stubborn UVI. The antibiotics slowed down his appetite and he was down to 1670g (!). He survived that appetite loss... And all those health checks with different horrible vets. He was so proud when they told slave he was extremely big and very very healthy. Matter of fact he was like "in your face, slave! No diabetes and nothing is wrong with my thyroid. Give oreos and carrots!".
Kongo has had an pretty good year. He thinks about Guinea pigs in Ukraine and stuff like that for a second sometimes, then he scuba dives in the hay and forget. He dont miss Bob or Chip. He was a bit more quiet for a day or two when they passed, but... Scuba dive in the hay is like spa, you guys! These lasts days he has been a nice and friendly neighbour to Joe that has a million tricks to steal his food. A long nose or a paw usually does the trick!

Happy 2025 you survivors! Take your meds and give your hard working slave a extra cuddle ♥️

Hi Survivors,

We're starting off the new year with a little critical care in a dish, since I'm not too keen on being syringe fed any more. Mom's going to leave it in my cage and hour, I've had a couple licks.

Mom's going to get some drain cleaner, a new bath mat and some other household stuff in preparation for the cleaning tomorrow.

Oh sh!t I just spilled the critical care! Good thing it's a cage cleaning day!

Mom got the new Alan Moore novel (a novel by the famous British graphic novel guy).

Have a great holiday! Mom's getting a bigger work check Friday so she's hoping to build her savings in case I need more care.

Lol mom's not organized! That's why she's hiring a one time cleaner

She has been having a hard time getting a weight on me as I wriggle in my bowl. But she thinks I'm stable since last time.
