Sugar snap peas

Hi!
Sugar snap peas are edible but be more of an occasional treat.
There is no choking hazard whatsoever as guinea pigs instinctively cut and chew their food - they are wired to chew properly in order to keep their constantly growing rodent teeth down and are used to coping with very tough hay/grass fibre and any other edible greens they come across to supplement their main diet.
It is a completely form of eating compared to predators like dogs and cats who are opportunistic feeders that are primed to wolf down any food in large chunks whenever they come across some as they don't rely on a steady food intake.
We come across cases with choking issues in guinea pigs only very, very rarely - and that despite several thousands of health/illness enquiries every year. For instance, we have never, ever seen any case of celery string causing a problem.

This is really helpful as I'm trying to find veggies that the family like and the piggies can too eat to cut down on waste. We eat sugar snap peas but a typical bag is a bit much so knowing I can give the a few of the leftovers to the boys occasionally is fab.

I've tried to feed my piggies sugar snap peas for exactly the same reason, I like eating them. They don't however, so I end up making stir fry with spring greens and whatever they do eat!

There's a lot we eat in common, but I find the shops sell stuff in such large quantities,we get scunnered eating the same veggies every meal and I'm sure they must do as well, but I hate waste. At least food waste is recycled here so I don't feel completely guilty. Things like spinach I know they should only have occasionally but a bag of it is always too much for us. I try to plan meals to use the veggies we all like and can have.

Yes I can't stand wasting food and can't get through a bag of spinach or spring greens. I guess at least I do like the veg they eat.
