Sudden change in mood. Submissive piggie humps the dominant one!?

Hello, hello!

Here I am again.

It appears that Onyx the submissive one had this brilliant idea to chaise after Tribble, the dominant piggie. Both piggies are older than a year. Tribble isn't all too keen and decided to teeth-chatter towards Onyx, letting him know to back down, alas, Onyx does not care!

My question is, what do I do now? I took Onyx out of his habitat, and he is getting a lot of affection.

PS; Nothing has changed in their habitat.

Small update!

I have separated Onyx from Tribble, because Onyx keeps chasing and trying to hump Tribble. I prefer things not to escalate further.

They can see each-other, side by side! However, Onyx seems restless now in his new, temporal habitat, I hope he will calm down soon!

I worry so much!
 
This could be spring fever or it could be a sign of any underlying issue.

Whether you separate comes down to how tribble handles it and if onyx listens.

If you separate then it needs to be for a few days to allow hormones to settle down.

When you reunite you need to do so on entirely neutral territory. They will then have to make their mind up as to whether they can go back together (you will see dominance upon reintroduction) or whether their separation now has to be a permanent one (in the case of an underlying tension which has now become too much).

I hope they can figure things out

Hmm, they were both wheeking quite a bit during the separation, so I snuggle them both on neutral grounds for about 20 minutes. It seems they do not mind each-other at all, so I can conclude there is no bad blood between them, I think Onyx is overly excited…

They both seem fine together, back in their own home, eating fresh grass.. I hope no further escalation ensues.

They are currently together, however, Onyx still has this idea he can run after Tribble and hump him. No teeth chattering, but Tribble does tell Onyx to back down.

I'll keep a close eye on both of them!
