Adult Guinea Pig
And then take all the animals home?
I wish I could. Somebody bought the guineas I wanted thank the lord.
And then take all the animals home?
I could never work in a pet shop, I'd probably shoot all the customers.
Absolutely, 100,000,000% agree! A few good ones who are genuinely interested in the welfare of the animal above all else and make wonderful forever homes, but too many that aren't and are just ignorant.
I work in a pet shop, and today a lady came in who said she had two guinea pigs. She said she was going away for christmas so had to take the guinea pigs with her... but she didn't want to take their cage as it was 'too big and bulky'. So her 'solution' was to take both of them in a small cat carrier .. and keep them in there for four days! WHAT? She seemed like she knew nothing about her guinea pigs, what toys do they like? are they allowed to chew things? she didn't even know what food they were on! Worrying ... very worrying. We all told her it was not appropriate to keep them in the cat carrier and she 'agreed' but.. she didn't buy anything else to keep 'them in.
Second rant .. also had a lovely lady come in with her staffy dog, who I was making a big fuss of, he was beautiful and called socks. Anyway I saw this lady in the shop giving the dog proper evils, then when the lady with the dog left the woman who had been giving evils started going on about how she 'doesn't understand why people get aggressive dogs like that'. I had to stop myself from just slapping her. I brought up the idea 'it's not the breed, it's how they're brought up' but she didn't buy it. Apparently it's 'in them to be aggressive'. Despite the fact this staffy was licking my face off... hmm.
Third rant! We've recently started selling animals (sadly). And one of our policies is that we don't sell animals to be bred from. Anyway, somebody came in and said they wanted a hamster to breed from, so obviously the person serving said sorry we can't, we don't sell animals to breed. So the customer suddenly changed their story and said they just wanted the hamster as a pet. We didn't buy it and they were told sorry, we have the right to refuse the sale as we believe you'll breed them. So the customer complains to head office... and what to head office do? take the customer's side! They said 'you should have just sold the hamster to them to keep them happy' What's the point in having the policy then?!?! GRRR!
Last rant (sorry I'm nearly done) had a woman in and she saw the guineas we had and she went off on one on how she doesn't understand why people would keep guinea pigs as pets, they're boring, unaffectionate etc etc.... I let her know she was wrong
Ahhh I feel slightly better now. I think I need a new job!
