Absolutely, 100,000,000% agree! A few good ones who are genuinely interested in the welfare of the animal above all else and make wonderful forever homes, but too many that aren't and are just ignorant.

Oh yes! had a grandad in who was looking for a hamster for his grandson and thought the guinea pigs were hamsters

:{

I corrected him, showed him the hamsters, gave him a leaflet and told him to think about it/talk to his grandson etc.. some people :...

I work in a pet shop, and today a lady came in who said she had two guinea pigs. She said she was going away for christmas so had to take the guinea pigs with her... but she didn't want to take their cage as it was 'too big and bulky'. So her 'solution' was to take both of them in a small cat carrier .. and keep them in there for four days! WHAT? She seemed like she knew nothing about her guinea pigs, what toys do they like? are they allowed to chew things? she didn't even know what food they were on! Worrying ... very worrying. We all told her it was not appropriate to keep them in the cat carrier and she 'agreed' but.. she didn't buy anything else to keep 'them in.

Sometimes I think people should take some sort of test to see whether they're fit to even look after an animal, and knows a certain amount about them. X_X Personally, I may not know the ins and outs, but I still know enough to make my pigs happy and transport them safely...I hope the piggies will be okay...

Second rant .. also had a lovely lady come in with her staffy dog, who I was making a big fuss of, he was beautiful and called socks. Anyway I saw this lady in the shop giving the dog proper evils, then when the lady with the dog left the woman who had been giving evils started going on about how she 'doesn't understand why people get aggressive dogs like that'. I had to stop myself from just slapping her. I brought up the idea 'it's not the breed, it's how they're brought up' but she didn't buy it. Apparently it's 'in them to be aggressive'. Despite the fact this staffy was licking my face off... hmm.

Some people just don't appreciate and understand animals. :( Dogs are extremely affectionate and full of love. Like you said, it just depends on how they're looked after/brought up. It must be so annoying dealing with ignorant people...I totally feel for you. :(

Third rant! We've recently started selling animals (sadly). And one of our policies is that we don't sell animals to be bred from. Anyway, somebody came in and said they wanted a hamster to breed from, so obviously the person serving said sorry we can't, we don't sell animals to breed. So the customer suddenly changed their story and said they just wanted the hamster as a pet. We didn't buy it and they were told sorry, we have the right to refuse the sale as we believe you'll breed them. So the customer complains to head office... and what to head office do? take the customer's side! They said 'you should have just sold the hamster to them to keep them happy' What's the point in having the policy then?!?! GRRR!

As they say, the customer is always right...And as I say, they're right until they walk out the door! Why would customer complaints take his side? I can't believe they don't abide by their own policies? I know this might seem weird, but is there anyone you can complain to about THEM? X_X

Last rant (sorry I'm nearly done) had a woman in and she saw the guineas we had and she went off on one on how she doesn't understand why people would keep guinea pigs as pets, they're boring, unaffectionate etc etc.... I let her know she was wrong ;)

Ahhh I feel slightly better now. I think I need a new job!

I know someone like that. :( I sometimes try kick up a conversation at work about my piggies when everything is silent, and my colleague always says something similar...And that guinea pigs are smelly and poo too much...

Hmmmm...:( Some people are so ignorant aren't they?

Yes they are :(
There's nowhere I can complain to head office about lol, they are the owners of the company..
Just watched the video to bruno mars 'grenade' and it's really not helping the reputation of pit bulls, it has this group of people on the street harrassing him with a pit bull which looks aggressive. Grrrr.
