HI :)

I noticed that Daisy had some foul smelling discharge from her vulva earlier. Looked as if there was some blood in it. It seems to have stopped now. I will take her over to vet tomorrow morning ( luckily for us they are just around the corner ). I have some Baytril and Metacam in the house, so should I give her some of that to be going on with ?

My knowledge of piggies is a bit limited, I don't want to make the situation worse. She seems bright enough in herself and is eating/ pooping ok. Not sure about the wee as she lives with 2 other pigs. Advice would be appreciated, please. Thanks.

I doesn't sound lmuch like UTI or a bladder stone.

UTI is mostly characterised through smelly, blody urine and with a bladder stone, you can get clear blood, but it is not exactly foul smelling.

I would rather suspect that something is either wrong with her womb or her guts. Best see the vet as soon as possible, especially if there is more.

Personally, I am a bit reluctant to medicate without diagnosis.

It is great that she is doing well now, but I have to agree that it doesn't sound like a renal or bladder issue. The foul smelling discharge and the blood may well indicate an infecion in the uterus (pyometra); I would strongly advise seeking veterinary advice.

It may be that the emergency vet just says to start giving the Baytril you've already got, but seeking an opinion even over the phone is worthwhile.
