I noticed yesterday after examing Skunk's teeth that she only has 3 at the front - she has her two top teeth but they are long and slant back (is the slanting normal?) and only one on the bottom which is growing diagonally and is far too long. I am giving her the option of mushed pellets but she doesn't have much of an apetite. She isn't losing weight but isn't gaining either and is far too thin. Is this a genetic problem? I have no experience of piggy problems with teeth...HELP!!

You need a decent piggy vet, ring the cambridge cavy trust and they will help you find a decent one, I think there is good one in dudley but I don't know how far that is from you.
Most vets are a bit rubbish with piggy's, and insist on giving them a GA to do the teeth and they don't need one.
Good luck

Skunk's bottom tooth is now hanging loosely out. I have tried to trim the top ones, to try and stop them digging into her lip. She is still eating and drinking, and I've given her a bit of Calpol to help with the tooth.

Poor Skunk. When Mimsi broke his teeth last year, he seemed to adapt fine. They werent broken to the gum though, he still had small stumps left. They grew back fairly quickly. I used to shred his veg rather than give him chunks. Hope Skunk is ok.

Can you travel, Tracy? There is someone near you who can help with teeth trouble, will PM you his number.

In the meantime, posting a pic might help - if he'll let you get a pic, of course? It's hard to get an idea of some tooth troubles without seeing it, obviously he needs seeing in person but just for some reassurance/suggestions to tide you over...
