Senior Guinea Pig
It's in the garage at the moment so would need bringing up to the flat for a photo. I do think I have one somewhere though, either on here or in the depths of Photobucket, I will have a look.
That is what I'm planning on doing. 2 grids to form the base with loads of cable ties and have ordered correx. Will probably do that for the ramp too as it seems a good idea and would be fairly sturdyI have the Skyline cage so not a Ferplast and it has housed a few pigs over the years. Nigel arrived in it and his previous owner had made a shelf and ramp out of C and C grids and correx. It has lasted well, we just reinforced the front with an extra grid as Nigel used to lean right over. I think it basically has 2 grids as the base, which are attached with numerous cable ties, then a correx tray and then the grid at the front. The ramp is 2 bent grids I think and we put carpet tile on it.
The bowl that is built into the shelf is not actually bowl. You put the bowl you get with the cage over it and that bit that looks like a bowl keeps the actual bowl in place if that makes sense. hahaI never liked those plastic shelf things thou I have never had one since my cages aren't ferplast. I have wooden houses and probably one issue would be that they are not exactly cleanable (like the plastic) and poo and pee can get stuck and ingrained in it. The positive is that wood would be nicer and more comfortable on the piggies feet thou would dry their paw pads out more.
My friend has the shelf and I dislike the food bowl as it's not very deep and food gets everywhere. I'd say if you get rid of the ramp and just have the shelf like you have then its better but then they can't hide really.
I'm just about to get a ferplast 120 myself in the next few days so will decide whether to keep the shelf or not.
Have a look at them on zoo plus and VetUK and Viovet. They can be quite cheap on those sites. You want the largest one from zooplusOk thanks. Think I will get 2large ones. They should be big enough
Thanks I have put a bit of fleece hanging from the loft so they can hide in their beds hahaAww that looks great. Well done.
Thanks I didn't actually want the loft that high but didn't really have an option as only had 2 bars running horizontal along the cage to tie wrap the shelf onto and the bottom bar would have been too low I thought. It's looks good! It's just like mine but the shelf is a bit higher!
Aww that's a coincidence! I wasn't sure if they would use the ramp at all but within 20 minutes they were both up! they seem to like hiding up there so I'm pleased!Mines on the low bar, at the top of the plastic. They seem to like hiding under it and I can still see them! Your top bit is the same dept as my bottle bit! If that makes sense!
I wasn't sure about having a ramp, my first piggies wouldn't use the ramp on the two level cage we had! I think these would though!
My Rosie and Lola are the same colours as your two!
