Sad news from the vet for Jezzy floof :(

I’m sorry to hear about your unexpected and sad news. Just enjoy lots of happy todays (as you have been doing all these years). Big hugs.

This was the “recipe”. I ended up ordering various tablets from the internet (Ebay, Amazon etc), crushing in a pestle & mortar and then mixing up the concoction. While waiting for the ingredients to arrive I just gave him some milk thistle liquid. Felix did really well on it for a while.

I've been doing some reading of scientific papers and there's actually a lot of good evidence that milk thistle really works for humans with fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease so I think we'll be ordering milk thistle for sure- great to know the piggy dosage and that it worked for a while for poor little Felix x

Yes I'm so sorry about Leo too, sounds like you were expecting stones and I was expecting ovarian cysts then both our scans showed up something weird and inoperable :(
Lets just do our best to make sure our piggies enjoy the time they have left x

When we brought her home 3 years ago she was really super-morbidly-obese after her previous owner fed her unlimited high fat muesli with seeds in and kept her in a hamster cage- her feet barely touched the floor she was so fat- I think that could perhaps be a factor, even though she slimmed down and toned up pretty fast on a proper diet, those junk food years must have had an impact on her liver :(

Wow that poor girl, it’s sounds like if she had not been blessed to live with you her life may have been considerably shorter! I am so sorry to hear the prognosis of such a delightful piggie. When the time comes closer just remember that no matter how long she has left, she had a 2nd chance at life in a great home with people that clearly loved her.

Oh the sweet girl. I am sorry to read this. You will know what's best for her when it comes time. You've always done the best for her. Big hugs for you and a treat for Jezzy.
 
Sorry to hear about the bad news from the vet for Jezzy floof. I hope you can keep her comfortable and give her loads more happy tomorrows. She is inthe best of hands with you whatever happens.

Perhaps I should post you the milk thistle from my vegetable weed patch. Got loads of it, you're welcome to it! ;):D

If she has fluid retention, would Furosemide help at all, or does that only work with fluid retention due to heart problems?
