Our lovely OG guinea Charlie got hooked on the bars today he whimpered poor boy and for a few seconds it felt much longer it was awful. He kind of had his teeth in the bar but his nose was hooked under as if it clamped his mouth shut. Tyler was so upset, Charlie (and Tyler) have both eaten and are acting as normal but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this as I'm now worrying about what would have happened if we hadn't luckily been sitting right next to him 😥The panels are the ones with the the rectangular sections.

Gosh, not very nice 🙁 Bars are not popular in Germany I think as they have often been the cause of injuries, trapping feet, and in this case, teeth and muzzle. It's good that he seems to be OK after getting trapped. I might buy some acrylic sheets from Temu which seems to be the same size as C&C grid panels to stop bar biting as it does have the potential to cause injury. Guinea Loft perspex cages look good too. Perhaps these cages will become more common soon. I need 2x3' though and the GL cages are 2x4'. It must have given you an unpleasant start. I hope all is OK now.

Aw poor Charlie (and Tyler!)
We're using see through plastic panels on the c and c to stop Daisy kicking hay all over the floor bless her, they cable tie on they're really good. Attaching them might work...
I'll see if I can find a link!

Thank you @Truffolo I will look for the perspex panels, so what do you use? 🤔
I can only afford the ordinary grid panels, C&C style, but have four perspex ones I got from Kavee which are good. I've got some of the acrylic sheets Wheekallweek kindly linked. I'll have a look for the Temu acrylics as they are larger and should be too tall to reach over.

Temu is selling the above acrylic screen. It's a big smaller than a standard grid, but is still quite a handy size. It has holes punched in the corners so could be attached with thin cable ties.

I have some clear plastic / Perspex sheets that came from Homebase.
They’re sold as DIY double glazing.
I bought them years ago to prevent pee spray decorating the walls.
I don’t know if they would serve your purpose but I don’t think they were very expensive

The grids with the rectangular close together bars (baby bars), (Kavee type) bent together and pulled out a friends piggy's front teeth when he was biting the bars.
I had some square holed grids from a well known on line cage seller that were not very good quality (my opinion!), the solder gave way on some of the joins on 2 of the grids. I buy grids quite often to upgrade cages and when we extend our family and now always buy from justgrendle on ebay whose grids are slightly thicker metal and the black finish is heat treated on rather than paint which I find peels off.
We attach clear plastic sheets with bull dog clips to the grids on the cages of our bar biter and our 2 climbers who use the bars like a ladder!
