When I gave Rusty his veg last night I noticed his eye was watery. Looked at him first thing this morning and noticed he had a runny nose and his breathing was heavy. Phoned the vet as soon as they were open this morning. He's got pneumonia, he's not shown any sign of being ill, no weight loss, eating well and bright and begging when ever there's a chance of a treat. I've gone over and over it in my head but I don't think I missed any sign of a URI. We've got Baytril, Metacam and Terbutaline, he's to be nebulised 4 times a day with F10. Just hope we've caught it in time, having fash backs to poor Spike today.

Please send Rusty healing vibes.

I have no doubt you’ve not missed anything. Pneumonia can suddenly strike as it did for my Mr Ted a few years ago. Your very keen eye for any potential issues has spotted this early and your vets are clearly hitting it hard. Well done getting him seen so quickly. Sending Rusty (& you) all my best wishes xx

Sending lots of healing vibes to Rusty and hugs for you, it’s a worrying time, Hope Rusty makes a full recovery x

Sorry to hear he's not feeling well. Glad you were able to get an appointment. Sending healing vibes your way.

How are things today?
Although it doesn't look like he ate much if any hay overnight he's put on 35gms from yesterday so I'm not bringing out the syringe food yet, I hope I don't have to. The nebuliser really loosened things up this morning he was ever so rattly after so I feel good about that.
He seems his usual self, quiet but he's never been bouncy or noisy even as a baby.
Thank you for thinking of us.

I have always found the nebuliser excellent help with anything going on in the respiratory tract. Great news that he’s gained some weight x

Well done on spotting it so quickly  come on gorgeous Rusty , get well soon - ❤️ the girls & i are sending truckloads of healing vibes for a full & speedy recovery.
look after yourself too xx

Poor Rusty bless him, hope he’s still doing well today and keeping up his munching @piggieminder!:love: You’re an absolutely brilliant mum and it’s definitely nothing you missed, you caught it extra early! Sending bagfuls of healing vibes and big kisses for Rusty the stunner :luv: xx
Hope you’re ok too and getting some sleep! xx

Sadly Baytril is now taking it's toll and he's stopped eating. I noticed last night he hadn't touched the fresh hay I gave him at lunch time. Started syringe feeding last night. Thanks @alpacasqueak I got to bed around 3.30am I think. Now I know it's needed I'll soon get myself into my night feed routine. Those big eyes keep looking at me as if to say 'why are you doing this to' every time I stick a syringe into his mouth. I wish I could explain what's going on to him. Off to buy lots of tasty viggies I can cut into thin strips soon (he's in the nebuliser at the moment. Hopefully it will be easier for him to breath with little bits. I know he must be feeling awful he wouldn't touch grass this morning.

Oh I’m so sorry Sue, was hoping he was still as bright as he has been poor lad, nasty baytril :( Hope you can get him munching with some tasty veg and he feels much better soon, must be horrible for him bless him. Really hope you see some improvement with him today ❤️ xx
Sorry you got to bed so late, hope you can get into the night feeding routine and manage to squeeze some more in today (have an afternoon nap like I do! :fog:). Sending massive hugs to you and healing vibes for beautiful Rusty xx

It's often 2 am before I go to bed anyway so it's not a problem for me! As you get older you need less sleep.
Same here, definitely a night owl! But I have to squeeze a nap in or I definitely wouldn’t be (the joy of strong brain meds!) 😆
Hope you have a good day, will be thinking of you and Rusty xx

So sorry to hear the Baytril has knocked his appetite for six. Night feeds are never any fun and even less so when the recipient resists. Here’s hoping that he soon perks up again xx
